I got a couple of questions?

I got an automatic rx-8 for wife....

Do I use Midgrade gas or premium gas?

And do I always have to put oil on the car of 1030 every 2 fillups?

You can use "midgrade" if you like. Check the book, I think the minimum is 89 or 91 Octane.
For the first few K miles, check the oil often and add as needed. After that, still check it from time to time. Consumption will drop dramatically. Make sure that you have the latest flashes, and warranty / TSB items done.

oil= 5w20 Castrol GTX (or whatever) and check it every 3rd fillup. I've never used anything less than 93 but you can go lower, people have told me who have that the car drives a little differently though, they were saying they could tell it wasn't quite as peppy/responsive etc. not sure what all to make of that

I think I saw your 8. I was turning in some financial papers after I bought my 04 there and saw a phantom blue one. It was badass looking. Yeah Mazda South treating me real well. I was super happy with the deal on the 8 I got.
