My Newest and Greatest Mod Yet!!!

I was getting really tired of the cream colored toll tag. It was such an eyesore that I decided to spray paint it black.

Thumbs up

I think I might do this to my 2 E-Z-Pass modules. Looks much better than that light beige color they come in. Did you have to prep them in any way or just tape them off and paint?

Great idea, thanks!

That's a nice improvement, but why not put it above the mirror (the black dotted portion of the windshield). It still works and you see it even less...

Because then you can see it while driving whereas behind the mirror the driver cannot see it at all.. and usually the passenger cant either.

Tape? HAHA, no. I just took it off and sprayed it down. I guess it would be better to primer and tape it... but meh, its ok.

Looks good ...

If you're registration & inspection stickers are down in the lower left corner of your windhield, you can just put your tolltag right over one of them - it fits perfectly. you can't see it from outside your car and you can't really see it from the driver's seat. i tried holding it there before i stuck it down and it works just fine!

Awww... smart. Good idea.
The toll tag people say to keep it near the rearview mirror. I assume that is where it tries to read it from... but im not sure. Thats why i kept mine there, but if it works in the other spot... might as well.

So I was walking back to my car today and lo and behold, the fugly creme toll tag is staring me down, daring me to paint it black. Can we have a toll-tag spray painting party at the next BJ's meet?

Okay, fine. If you paint it black, though, it's not that big of a deal. (black-on-black) I guess it all depends on if you'd rather have it look slightly better from the outside or the inside.

How about this: Paint it black, put it above the mirror, and get a Mazdaspeed rear-view-mirror. That's a total of 0.2sec off off you 1/4 mile. (It would be 0.3sec, but the paint added extra weight. Ahh, the price of beauty...)

The registration sticker area isn't a bad idea... but the in-the-door concept seems risky. With my luck it would fail to work every so often.

Here is another addition to the greantess...
So i was having a problem with the Blow-Off Valve. It sounds great, and is working really well... but no matter what hole you have it set for... it always slides its way back to the biggest one (which is really loud).

Solution...

Ok, i just realized the piston inside the blow-off valve is not going to get along with that twist tie... time to find an alternative solution.

So the problem is the BOV collar is rotating when it's not supposed to?

Yes, that red piece is very slippery, and it always wants to rotate back to the position of the biggest hole.

If the zip-tie doesnt work... i'll try that next. The zip tie is actually on really tight. I couldnt even manually turn the red collar after i tied it down.
