It maybe better to post this in the wheels/tires forums. Also let us know how these tires are going to be used, and what you want out of them.

I've always had great luck with yokohama. I switched from AVS Intermediates a few years ago to kumho ECSTA supras (because of the price and the ES100's weren't out yet) and lemme tell you, I have no idea why a lot of people on these boards think kumho's are so great. They're insanely loud, and while they had decent dry performance, they've worn funny for me, have garbage wet traction, and seem to break out too easily at the limit. Yes they're cheap, but another 20 bucks per tire will get you a nice set of yokos.

For ultra high-performance I'd go with the advan sport, advan neova, or the ES100's.
For high performance I'd go with the Avid H4s/V4s

Costco apparently has some deal on UHP Michelin's for 168 a tire mounted. So thats a super price.

Good luck.

I was completely unhappy with the factory Bridgestone's that my RX-8 came with. The biggest complaints were 16,748 miles on them and it was time to change them; when it rained, these tires tended to pull in crazy directions; and anytime the tempurature dropped below 60, I had a hard time getting traction...not to mention the noise these tires generated as they were nearing their life cycle.

I went with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 tires. I have almost 8000 miles on these and I have no complaints yet. They perform supurbly in the rain and I made it through this winter without any traction troubles.
