If you're looking for reliable I'd say the 8 is not the right car for you. Mine is an 05 with 4500 miles on it, I bought it in May and it's been to the dealer 3 times already soon to be 4 with a check engine light today. It's bone stock and I check the oil level religiously and only fill up with 93 octane gas. Maybe it's just bad luck but I don't know, my 9 year old M3 never gave me this many problems.

Luck of the draw maybe. I bought mine jan 1, 2004.......and have brought it to the dealer only once, and that was to fix the sunvisor's.

EDIT: Oh yeah 21,000 miles

27K miles - no breakdowns.

Just do the maintenance and treat it right.
