What incredible irony! I just received a call from the customer assistance manager at Paretti and got to unload on him!!!!

Told him communication was horrible, that I don't recall getting a call back and that I had to keep calling them, that they made promises they didn't fulfill (i.e., spoke with Kenny in the morning and he said he would give me a call at lunch to let me know about the car, that I called at 2PM due to no call and Kenny was at lunch, and that Ryan called shortly before 3 to let me know I could pick up the car), told him I work downtown and have clients to attend to and Paretti completely inconvenienced me, and that I would probably never take my car there again.

The customer service guy said he didn't know what to say, that he had no excuses, and that he was very sorry. He said he hoped next time, if there is a next time, that there are no problems and that I am more than welcome to call him if I am not getting the service I need.

I need to get all of my posts and PM's together, send them to MNAO, and copy the Paretti people.

Hmmm...maybe her custom title should be changed to rotary goddess?

I have an idea (and this is because I finally have my car back and I'm really stoked and I wanna have fun). Where are some good twisty country roads that we can go have fun on? I'd love to go for a fast paced, pedestrian and other motorist safe drive.

I guess I should check the Miata forums. But if any of you have any ideas, let me know and we'll see if we can organize something. Heck, maybe the Miata guys might let us join in.

See, this is what happens when you've been out of school for a while and have to study for a test. You start thinking about anything other than the materials you're studying. (I'm taking the MPRE to waive into another state's bar)

edit: it also appears one nevers gets out of the habit of cramming for a test. Nites.

Rotary Goddess is a title that suits her well. Lol. GL on the test!

Monique, So how is the sound of the intake? You like? Do you miss your fishbowl?

Awwa, thanks guys!

My new intake sounds great! I wish I'd have gotten the screens & ram air duct at the same time though. I didn't think the REVi through. Had I known the bumper had to come off to install it, I'd have bought the ram air with it.

Naah- I don't miss the fish bowl. I am upset that the smoked film I bought for the tail lamps came out like s*** so I took them off. They didn't fit well. However, the blue tint for the headlights & foglamps that I wasn't so sure about, did come out good.

Tony- How are you feeling? I had three wisdom teeth pulled at once and that wasn't fun. Hey did you get my voice mail about the CX-7?

John- Good luck on your test! I'm gonna check out that company this week btw, to see if they's powder coat our calipers. That would be great! I can have Alex next door pull them off, take a company car to drop them off, etc.

Well, I didn't get a chance to wash and polish the car this weekend.

The powder coating place: about $250 for all 4 calipers. The calipers have to be gutted (take out pistons, seals, etc). They cannot get to them until next week and turnaround time should be one or two days.

Mmm that sucks. Well if you stay too busy here are two contacts I trust to wash mine...

Cavalier's Auto Detailing / Daniel / 504-628-5043 <-- This is my cousin.
Great work. He also installs the 3M Clear Bra! He stays pretty booked up but excellent for waxing, so schedule something soon if you're interested!

Bryan's Mobile Detailing / Bryan / 504-468-6808 <-- I use them more than Daniel bc if I call them in the am they can usually be here or squeeze me in that pm for wash & vacuum when I'm too busy.

Thanks for the powder coating info.

Alright ya'll..... Long story short, My car got IMPOUNDED! At 12:24 am this cop pulls me over for speeding but yet the car next to me was ZOOMING... Why? Because they hating the fact that our 8 looks so intimidating. So yeah, everything was going well then when he asked for my insurance card "BAM" EXPIRED! I left my new one at home and had my old one in my wallet. Here I am unlucky as hell. So he does his little report yada yada, comes back and tells me to get out the car. I thought he was gonna take me in but he just tells me to get all my things out of the vehicle that I need. So he says he called a tow truck and that it was gonna be towed to an impound. Next thing my boy with a blue 8 was coming home from his girls house and saw me so he tried to come back to see what happened. The cop saw him come by twice and was like "Do you know that person in the blue Rx7? That's his second time coming around here." I didn't want to be a smart *** and tell him it was an 8 so I just said yeah. Anyway, my car BARELY cleared the tow bed.

So first thing this morning I went to the dmv to get my plate back but they haven't even received my plate yet. I called JP and they said that it is a 3 day process. They have to clear it in their system then send it to the dmv the next day so they can process it and then finally I could get it back. This sucks not having my 8 and the worse part is that it's in an impound all the way on us 90 at jakes tow & salvage. Anyone familiar with them?

Quick question... The cop told me that he did a walk-around of the 8 to check for damages. I keep my car in tip top shape so nothing was damaged. If the towing company was to damage my car would they be liable for it?

Sounds like the cop was being a dick. Were you far from home? He could have always let you get your proof of insurance from home.

In other news, my 8 just threw the first CEL I've ever seen since I owned it. So that's 17K miles that it has not thrown a CEL.

Oh yeah! This gets me so freaking excited! :sarcasm:

I didn't count the blinks, but I think it blinked 6-10 times, and just one blink sequence, so hopefully it was a glitch or something. I don't know, but I'm not all that happy about it. And it feels a bit sluggish in the lower RPM range. I'll have to see if I can get a chance to check it out or if it does it again.

Update : As of 3-13-07 at around 1ish I saw my baby at the impound dirty as can be!

I did a lil walk around of the car and saw no dmgs at all which is good. But I was scared when I saw cat paw prints that ran from the trunk to the roof then dissapeared. Luckily no scratches. Now she is home all clean and shiny again. Lesson learned.

Skwidd - Wow, new tranny new clutch first CEL. Doesn't sound pleasant at all. You should bring it to them ASAP!

I brought it in to Ducote. One of the coils was on its way out. I'm hoping I get it back today. Waiting for Keith to call me back.

Keith is pretty much super cool.

Ed doesn't seem that friendly.

Wow...slow posting day for the New Orleans area.

OK...dropped the car off at Ducote around 10, picked it up before 6. It is running much better now. I also had the differential oil changed. They used the stock Mazda oil. I guess I can change it out to redline in 30K miles when I change the transmission oil and clean out the radiator.

I wish it wasn't raining tonight on the way home. I could have had some fun.

Just as a side note, does anyone know the owner of a new black 8 with grey interior, with Parreti tags?? Saw him Friday evening heading west on I-10.
Shouted out how nice the car looked, was given a look like I wanted to rape his ***!!!

Told ya. Ducote should just keep that guy in the back somewhere instead of having him deal directly with customers. Maybe he's upset because his life sucks. Anyway, my check engine light is back on. I'll have to find time to bring the car in...again. EVERYONE is telling me that I should just trade it in. It's like being madly in love with someone who is a habitual cheater and constantly beats the **** out of you.

Hey Roger- Naah unfortunately after a late night of partying I hit a friggin drain and bent a rim! In fact, I think I may have seen you heading towards the Huey P on Clearview as I was driving to my office to pick up my jack & a spare wheel from my trailer which is parked at my office in our warehouse. Sucked- I wanted to go. I've been so busy lately I wasn't prepared anyway. I didn't even register. I called someone and told them to add me to the list before it was faxed over to the base. lol. Obviously you didn't make it either, huh? I heard there was a young guy in an 8 out there. It was an ok turn out from what I understand. Are you on nostreetracing.org?

Dominick- Sorry you feel that way about your 8. Mine has def loved me back.

Well I got my rim repaired at Southern Tire on Airline. Thats also who sipes my tires btw, see: Tire Siping, this adds grip and life to tires! I'd love to use this as my reason to rush on those wheels I want but I'm trying not to allow myself. lol. It'll cost me about 2k for those wheels with tires but I found a Greddy Turbo Kit for 3.2k! Ugh... I also want an FD real bad. So... decisions, decisions...

Where is everyone? Haha.

Man Tony that is an awesome friggin pic!

I still love my car and I don't plan on giving it up unless something catastrophic happens. Personally, I just don't believe a new car should have this many problems. It sucks leaving work to bring your car to the dealership and being stuck with a rental time and again. I don't want to pay a $500 car note to be driving a Hyundai every month Problem is, I reeeeally want more power, but I'm scared of breaking something else. I want an FD myself as well . If I got an fd, I would have something else as a dd and I wouldn't care as much when it breaks down. Do you know of any for sale locally? How much do they go for in running condition? I'd love to have one strictly as a weekend toy. If I were you I wouldn't get the Greddy. I'm sure you know some rotor heads who could fab up a much better kit than the Greddy for less money

Oh cool. Southern Tires has Nitto. I need to find out which ones I have to see how much they charge here. The tires places in Dallas were pretty dirt cheap on Nitto tires.

Monique, thanks for the info!

As long as they promise not to "h8" I'll pass through. I live pretty close to the lakefront. I'll pass it on to my friend who owns a Z.

I probably won't spend the mulla on a turbo. I do know people who can put one together for me and even install it. FD's are pretty costly to maintain but I'm sure you know that. There's a guy here selling a '94 Montego Blue for $13.5k! Good luck with your 8!
