These babies are only 16 lbs. Accelerates better in 1-2-3....don't notice anything in 4-5-6. I just drove like a mad man for a full tank and still got 19 mpg, so i have a feeling they are doing some good.

eh, tony your gonna love this.....

After 2 weeks of getting the runaround, mazda finally decided to warrenty terry's car.......so yesterday they gave him a rental and said it would be ready in a week. WELLLLL..........today at about 3:30 they called him while we were at work..and they said, that they have decided not to warrenty the car and they want their rental back asap. The reason they gave is *because your intake is aftermarket, its causing u to suck up dust and its sandblasting your engine*. So yea, BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna pull a couple string at paretti for him and if they get the same response from the mazda people, hes gonna lawyer up....and yes we have contacted his lawyer AND several liscenced mechanics for both mazda, GM, and independant shops, who have all agreeed this is bullshit and are willing to testify.

just thaught i'd let everyone know. This is the BS u get when dealerships are to lazy to fix a car.

AEM CAI

it was on the car when he baught it. But he knows the previous owner very well, so its not like it was abused.

Are the filters comparable? In other words, does the AEM let bigger particles through? I know Keith said Paretti is good with the RB mods, but he's not sure about other mods. I think they (Hammond Mazda) might be claiming that the AEM filter let's bigger particles through.

Also, the regional service manager might be making the call.

Yeah sunburn sucks...

MM was awesome. First time at the track so it was a fun experience.

You should go on the 16th they having another one. And I'm going again but I'm gonna be prepared this time.

I'll drop my psi to 20ish, take my sound out, install the RP SUPERCAT (which comes in 2morrow!), RP SS Clutchline (heard it helps with the 1-2 gear shift at high rpm)

You should head to NPR on the 16th of this month. It didn't feel good being the ONLY 8 out there.

well Skwidd, when it comes to the filter. It doesn't let bigger particles through. Infact the AEM and the mazdaspeed use the exact same filter *yes the mazdaspeed which i got uses a AEM made filter* and they told me mine is warrentied cause its mazdaspeed and the filter lets in the same as the stock filter, just more effective as far as engine breathing. So its a bunch of BS, and the biggest thing about all of it is how shady they are being about it. They keep saying we will call u back with this and that and they never do, they will never give us a straight answer about ANYTHING, they won't cooperate with us when we try to talk about it, and they even told him they were gonna warrenty it, gave him a rental car - then 2 days later call at 3:30 in the afternoon out of nowhere and say nevermind we arent gonna warrenty it and u need to return the rental NOW and literaly 2 mins after he hung up enterprise started harrassing him to bring the rental back *calling him ever 30 mins on both his cell and his house phone*....its amazing...

hehe yea i will definitely be there or try to atleast. I hope i can get some of my club to come with me *might be tuff tho since one is my friend with the 8 at hammond mazda, and 2 have blown motors...=/*

And u just need to practice on the track, your times will get better without all the psi lowering and stuff. my buddy whos got the yellow 8 ran a 14.91 at NPR during the first MM of the year in january. All he had done was the AEM CAI, and some retarded throttle body spacer he baught on ebay just to test weather it helps or is just a load of BS, we never lowered his tire PSI at all.

Hi Tony,

Haven't had a chance to tell you, but congrats on getting your car back. Let me know the next time you go to NPR. I was on vacation in Pennsylvania and saw 5 RX-8's.

Wildman, the wheels look good!!

Yeah most definitely need practice at the track. I kept dropping the clutch and missing 2nd.... I finally realized that I need to feather the launch.

Tony,

My family and I had a great time. We even made a small car show in Hershey,PA. I spoke to Monique just before I left and she said she was quite busy.

Don't forget to let me know when you go to NPR. PM me for my phone number.

what did u launch at? terry launches at 4500, and gets just a little spin then it grabs. Sometimes theres a lil wheel-hop sometimes more or less than others. but it will vary from car to car.

o and yea i have had that problem with 2nd gear to hehe. Racing some ******* in a modded v6 stang the other day who kept messing with me in traffic, i pushed the clutch in and let it halfway out before pushing it in 2nd. I was like FFFFFFFFFFFFF*&^T%&^&*(*&%^&......and i still beat him.

Bring them stats on both intakes, showing the particles sizes to counter their claim that the AEM is sucking in sand. If they still refuse, get the car pulled from the Hammond place and bring it to Ducote (speak to Keith first) or (god forgive me for saying this...) Paretti. Refuse to pay for the rental car. See if the new dealership will cover the rental at Hammond for the days other than the days Hammond said they would warranty the work, or for all of the days. Wherever you bring it, if it gets warrantied, the rental should be covered. File a complaint with BBB and Mazda North America...and the attorney general.

How much is it to get the car on the track?

What's the deal with tires? Like, is there a certain tread depth? I'm interested in getting out there. Actually, since we haven't heard from Monique in a while, I called her and challenged her to race at NPR.

The event is called Midnight Madness. Simply meaning doesn't end until so. Starts at 7ish - 1am. $15 For as many runs as you can do.

I hear you get better traction with lower psi on the tires as opposed to having rock hard tires not gripping at all.

OK...that's not bad.

Yeah...my issue is do I want to run on brand new tires or the tires that have a lot of wear on them. I think with new tires, I might be kicking up rubber all over the track, so I might want to run on the older tires. I'm not interested in getting new rims and race rubber to put on them.
