Well that's good news. Are they going to actually provide you with a new or re-built transmssion (just curious)? And if I were you, I'd explore the possibility of purchasing a high performance clutch if you're pondering a new. Esp if any mods are in your future.

They said new. Paretti doesn't tear Transmissions down, so new transmission. I guess I'll have to ask them to be a little more specific.

I've already ordered the clutch kit from Rosenthal. Paretti said they could not even come close to matching the price. They even asked if the parts were OEM (I called and Ray at Rosenthal said yes...and explained that Rosenthal buys in such large quantifies, that Mazda gives a discount). Ryan at Paretti said he spoke with the parts manager and they wouldn't budge on price.

That kind of makes sense. After Royal closed and I was forced to go to Paretti, I met with the parts manager and was getting parts for my Miata through my friend's body shop. The parts manager asked if the Miata was my personal car (I was getting a bunch of oil filters, etc.) and when I said yes, the discount dropped from 25% to 12%.

It's a shame, but I don't think the personnel at Paretti know about this site.

Oh...and as far as high performance clutch, I don't think I can get Paretti to put an aftermarket clutch on. When I mentioned it, Ryan completely dismissed the idea until he realized I was asking if Mazdaspeed makes a high performance clutch.

Skwidd,

Good luck with the transmission and clutch. A lot of times (no matter who the dealer is) it is a difficult proposition when performance parts are involved. From what I understand, not every Mazda dealer is a Mazdaspeed Dealer. I am not sure of Paretti's status.

No responses on the BBQ yet. It is not going to cost you a penny. No one interested?

Thanks. I settled on an OEM clutch from Rosenthal. No one around here can beat the price.

Transmission will not be in until Friday. Hopefully I will have the car back on saturday.

Cool, cool... Trussville Mazda has great prices, too!

astrox-
I'm down! I think you should take a head count first though.
Then maybe charge only $5 per person or make it BYOM-BYOL
"Bring your own meat & liquor" lol.
I'll bring killer potato salad & bbq beans!

ps... I ordered my REVi today. Woohoo! I tried to catch you @ Ducote today btw.

Mobique.

Thank you, I will take you up on the offer. My wife and I figured we could handle about 15-20 people without any problem. We will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and some beer. So far you are only the second person to confirm. We will set a date later this week but it will be on a Sunday. Also, family and guests will ne welcome.

Awesome. I think we should definately invite Keith, too!
We should do something special for him.

-M

EDIT: A Sunday sounds good. But not March 18th or 25th, there are autox' those days. How about April 1st (April Fool's Day/Palm Sunday) or April 11 (Daylight Savings Begins that day!)? That'll give you (us) plenty of time to plan & round everyone up. Once you pick a date one of us should start a new thread for it in the Gulf Forum. I'll also contact Ted if you want, to invite him and spread the word to Sevens on the Shore (?) and/or other 8 peeps. Although, Ted's a trader now "Love ya speed!". 'Cause he's a Z06 guy now! lol.

EDIT: Daylighjt Savings begins MARCH 11 this year! Woohoo!

I'm down but I gave up drinking for LENT. For a guy my size I could eat A LOT of food. Just say when and where and I'll be there. I'm thinking about getting Koni's now. Monique kinda swayed me that way.

PS. Monique, was your car on Barataria today at Rum Runners?

I just came from my uncle's shop and we were working on my boy's supra. Wasn't holding pressure in sequential mode but in twin turbo mode it holds full pressure (12psi). Anyone familiar with turbos?

PS. I must say ever since the install of Rb exhaust, K&N drop in w/ Revi air duct, and the agency pulley, I feel a stronger pull from around 5k to 8.5k. I have had no problems what so ever after the install.

Yup, that was me. You should've stopped. My 8 looked gooood today didn't it? Oh that's not really a question. lol. I had it detailed today since the weather's so nice & I couldn't do it yesterday. FYI: I use "Bryan's Mobile Detailing" 504-468-6808.

I'm glad all is well w/the install of your new mods. I ordered my REVi today & I'll prob be sending off for my RB Flash within the next week or two. I love my RB exhaust, it's just a biotch to keep clean. It sounds great in the Harvey tunnel btw!

Enjoy your steak!

Yep you sure should've.

Hmm... you didn't notice my exhaust, slotted rotors, the plate, strakes, clear corners, Zaino shine, etc.? I'm hurt...

I was only there for about 20-30 min or so.
My arm still hurts from the twisting that was done to it. Naah.

Well I wasn't that close to the car. I caught a glance last second as I passed by. I'm sure I'll have time to see all your goodies.

BTW I just saw the vid with the RB flash in another thread and It seems like with my mods its the same thing. I couldn't go a few days without the 8 after sending the ecu. I'm not saying its a bad thing cause eventually I'll do it too. But your Revi, I could do for you or show you how to do it. Just give me a holla when you get it.

Twisting?

K. Sounds good. I may take you up on the REVi install help btw.

I spoke with Shawn @ RB on yesterday. As long as I call ahead I'll technically only be w/o my ride a total of mmmmm, like 42 hours! Haha! I can drive my car to work Monday and even drive it for lunch. Then I'll have Alex pull the ecu in the afternoon and have enterprise pick me up when I get off at 4:30. Kevin (my warehouse guy) will ship it carefully and insured via UPS Next Business Morning for delivery to RB Tuesday AM. RB will flash it and ship it back to me the same day. Also shipping back via UPS Next Business Morning. I'll have it back by 10:30AM on Wednesday, I'll bring it next door to Alex where my car will also be garaged. He'll put my freshly flashed ecu back where he got it and I'm good to go by lunch time Weds! Yaay! The flash does a few things including increasing the rev limiter from 9k to 9300RPM and lowering the temp in whick the fan kicks on to help cooling. Click here for more info on Racing Beat's RX8 flash!

C-ya.

EDIT: The only thing is I'll have to send a money order with my ecu bc my bill to addy is obviously my home and I want to ship from/to my office since my car and shop is next door.

Dang, that doesn't sound bad at all. I might just have to jump on the bandwagon as well. Tell me how it goes once you get it or show it off to others at the meet. See you then!

PS. Lucky you have a warehouse guy... And I have never taken my car to 9k before.. Must be awesome.

Hmmm...I just checked this out. You have to let us know how this goes. I might think about it. It doesn't appear you need any other mods, correct? My 8 is bone stock with the exception of the OEM spoiler I put on a few weeks ago.

Who has access to a dyno?

Will do. I think astrox is doing his flash soon, too.

No, I probably don't need any other mods. But contrary to what my mom used to say "It's not what I need, it's what I want. lol.

I have access to a dyno. It's in Baton Rouge.
Do you want to dyno your car stock?
I dyno'd mine stock a couple of years ago. My 8 put 199 to the wheels.

I have a friend who owns a body shop in Kenner and there is a shop with a dyno a few buildings away from the body shop. If I wind up out there one night when they are messing with the dyno, I might see if they'll let me hook the 8 up. It's just a matter of finding time and catching them when they are there. I'll have to ask my friend when the guys with the dyno are playing around. I think on saturday nights, but I'm not sure. If I do decide to go with the flash, I'll definietly dyno the car before.

Wait- you haven't hit 9k? Are you serious? Man, your car is missing out!
Take it on the elevated expressway & hit the redline in 3rd! Really. You should do that once in a while. It's actually good fore your car. Huh... are you effin w/me? lol.
