I don't watch anime, either.
I try to tackle series every once in a while, but I have yet to watch one all the way through. They all start good, stay decent, but just don't hold my attention. It's entertaining - I do enjoy it on occasion - but anything that exceeds 20 or so episodes just doesn't move fast enough to keep me involved, or has too much **** going on at once for me to want to keep up with it.
Retardedly long series like Bleach, DBZ, and Inu-Yasha just annoy me.
However, while they might be called "anime" conventions, anime itself only comprises 25%-30% of the con. There are panels with voice actors, free arcades, showings of strange japanese television shows (Tokyo Breakfast, anyone?), concerts with Japanese thrashmetal bands, huge "raves" with nothing but hardcore video game music remixes, local webcomic artists, Japanese techo-gadget displays/sales/showings, and a bunch of cool **** for sale.
I go mainly for the games, followed by the skits, followed by more games, then the rave, and then more games

i thought we were talkin about 8's here... what happened. ahh!
the trunk on the rx-8 isn't small, but the opening is. at least ur Z is a hatch. i think the 8 would be soooo much cooler if it were a hatch. i dont put much in the trunk either. but i think if mazda put a spare tire in the trunk the weight ratio would be a perfect 50/50 instead of the 51/49 it has.
i'd like to see that 350z though eric. its a nice rice also. i just like the 8 better. thats why i got one.

Woh I missed a lot haha. I used to to be really into anime. Nowadays I just watch the same ones that have yet to finish from back then (Bleach, Naruto) or new ones that catch my attention. Im into Jdramas now!! I went to one anime convention a few years back and was TOTALLy unimpressed. Have never been to another. I would have liked to check this one out but Saturday is no good for me. Im still up for the wednesday meet though!! its at 8 now right?

The RX meet tonight??
Tonight is July 31st.
Killjoy's post says August 7th.
The North Houston meet is August 1st (tomorrow).
One of us is confused...
We seemed to have hijacked our own thread. Let's save the atsuicon/anime discussons & babble for Wednesday night. If we stay off topic much longer no one else in north Houston is going to want to have anything to do with us and our dorkiness
Here is local calendar of events as I understand it. We can elaborate more after we meet up tomorrow, but for right now this is for the most part what we've got going for the month of August:
Aug 1st, Wednesday
20:00
"North Houston" meet in the massive parking lot behind the Hooters located by the intersection of I-45 and FM 1960.
Aug 4th, Saturday
Sometime between Noon & 16:00(Official time TBA Friday Night)
RX owners who also happen to be attending Atsuicon meet up. Not really an "RX event", as we will most likely not be talking about our cars, but it's still a chance to shoot the **** and play some video games with other owners.
Aug 7th, Tuesday
19:00
RX Club of Houston meeting. Will be held at Gabby's BBQ just off 610 North Loop. For additional details, see Dr. Killjoy's thread pertaining to the monthly meet.
Aug 10th/11th, Friday/Saturday
TBA
"North Houston" install meet at AAHEX8's house. He is being kind enough to let us use his tools & garage, but as far as beer, booze, and food goes - BYO. The only install currently planned for this night is the installation of the MS suspension on my car. The rest of the night will most likely be filled with video games and/or movies.
For more details, ask AAHEX8 - his house, his rules.

Heh - call me what you want, I'm used to it. For some reason, my whole life, no one remembers my real name or my nick name and comes up with something of their own. Hell, the group of people I'm going to Atsuicon with has been calling me "CKY" for the past 3 years because all they could remember about me the first time we hung out was that I had a Camp Kill Yourself pin in my hat!
As for HEROs suspension, I haven't officially bought it yet, but I plan on buying it either tonight at the meeting or at the install party - it's just a matter of if he remembers to bring it.
crztrtldck:
Don't worry about missing the meeting - there will be many MANY more, and you're welcome to all of them
btw, what does your name mean, and how the hell are you supposed to pronounce it? The best I could come up with is "Crazy Turtle Dick", but something tells me that's not it...

1/2mv^2: Ill have the suspension on me again tonight incase you want it. And let us know what you prefer to be called so we dont come up with our own name for you too haha
Everyone else: See you guys tonight!!

Hey guys - quick update:
There is a mean rainstorm to the North of Conroe.
It's headed south.
At it's current speed & direction, the storm will be somewhere around 1960 & I45 at about 8:00....
Do we have a backup location in case of rain?
Are we just going to take shelter under the canopy of the strip mall?
Cancel the meet?
What's our backup plan?

lol thanks
OK, since no one else is taking the initiative, I'll come up with our plan B:
Show up, wet or dry. The mini-mall behind hooters has a wide sidewalk with an overhead cover end to end. It will easily accomodate the 5-8 people showing up tonight. If things get real nasty and the winds start blowing mist on us, we'll just go eat at Hooters.
Everyone agree?
