Money is money but I for one, turn away business all the time if I think the customer is going to be difficult or unrealistic. It just depends how desperate you are for business. I have read and heard nothing but positive things about J Tran going back to my subie days. But I don't think they have been open solo for long.

Wow, do you see what I mean? JTran Studios doesn't want business from RX-8s!!! They were supposed to tell me if they could work with the Cobb and they were having a meeting with a Cobb representative. They never called me back about it. I got my turbo install done at Secret Services Auto and they weren't very good either, but at least I'm boosted. Man this car is f---in fast!

As the owner of the business I simply did not like having to drop my prices many times to accomodate. I stopped at a certain point and that was the end of the communication between the customer and I. I just dont like to be haggled If I feel un comfortable I choose to not do the work
Thanks

At the end of the day a business owner must always consider how their time is best spent and at what price they can part with that time.
Whether it be with the smallest of companies, with car shops, or even in my industry where I'm asked to manage billions of dollars for my clients; if when all is said and done, it is not a good fit for BOTH parties, then someone needs to recognize that and not be afraid to stand firm. Sometimes that's the client not wanting to pay more and other times it's a business who simply refuses to be paid less because it no longer is a wise business decision for them. People need to remember that a business transaction is a TWO-WAY street and the customer is not always right.

I've only heard good things about jtran, but they are not a poor mans shop. They are good at what they do and charge a premium for it.
I called for an estimate on installing shocks/springs and was quoted 8 hours of labor and price of 400 something. A decent shop named sals autosport in houston quoted 280. Sals is pretty good too and was way cheaper. Fortunately I manned up and did the install with ross dawg instead of paying a shop to do it.
If I was tuning a car though, I'd want to pay to make sure its done right, and I'd go to MM for cobb tuning, anything else i'd take to jtran

If you did YOUR research you would know that Maz-Max doesn't do tuning. In fact they don't do performance work at all.
Maz-Max is a parts house and dismantler. In the past they performed factory repair type work and other straight-forward mechanic style jobs.
Think before you speak, lest you look like an idiot.

Before you go badmouthing a company for not knowing "how to tune" you should realize who and what you are contacting.
