New coils and 10 quarts of transmission fluid. Looks like I've got some maintenance work to do.

You are making untrue statements. I never once said that Facebook is better. And I likely never will (too many stability problems for my liking) What I said was that no one was using google+ I stick to my guns. Google+ has not currently reached critical mass for me to completely switch. I have a relatively small friends list (by and standard measure) and of those only a small fraction use google+ It would not make sense for me to switch to a platform that I do not benefit from. Do I have a google+ account setup? Yes. Do I use it? No. Just like most of the people in my friends list.

My cat is going out... Got a CEL code P0420 Catalytic Efficiency Below Threshhold... Intrested in the HKS Legamax Exhaust System with BHR midpipe and catalyst. http://blackhaloracing.com/?page_id=60&category=10
Will it pass emissions here in NTX?

Get togethers? Ever?.... I ended up just making my own midpipe for $20... Not ovverly loud, I can drive down the freeway and not notice it. Little smelly but, it smells the same as the broken up cat did, that I cut off.

For the same reason. The unburnt fuel is still coming out of your exhaust.

If you're throwing a CEL on your mid, you can get a spacer for the O2 sensor that can fool it.

Unburnt fuell is that typical? I'm still learning things. As of Right now I wouldn't even pass a visual... but it's a quick a cheap fix... O2 sensor is sittin in my glove box...but a friend of mine had said the he could do something that'll overlook the O2 sensor and keep the CEL off.

The roads in Arlington are bad (Shush Thomas... I dont want any lip from you). Ive developed a rattle in my front suspension, no idea where its coming from. Thinking about just buying some new springs and getting rid of the Tein's for some Progress Tech. If I keep the Tein's its going to be a new Mazdaspeed Exedy clutch with BHR's lightweight fly next. Should be a fun improvement

Hopefully it's the suspension. I had the same thing.... I ended up being my lower control arm that snapped going 10 MPH across a Walmart parking lot... First tow 1,200$ lots of trips to salvage lots had to get a tie rod inner/outer, fender liners, air dam, new wheel (body sliced through it), and of course a new control arm

if you want bad roads come out to lubbock. it will make it seem like they lay new pavement every week in arlington, and dont inconvenience you with the construction of it all.

Yeah... Im going to need to take a look at my suspension soon. Suddenly my car is giving me alot of problems.
  • Front suspension knocking
  • Transmission
  • Brakes are squealing bad and my front rotors are starting to leave spots on my rotors

The front suspension knocking is starting to bother me because I cant find where its coming from. Ive looked for anything loose and havent found anything. The last time my front suspension had a knock one of my lower control arm bolts was loose but I tightened it and the knock went away. ! Point of concern is the same reason. possibly my springs are starting to sag which is why I was contemplating getting some Progress Tech springs as a temp for AutoX until I can afford a decent set of coilovers. But then it seems like a waste of $$$ and I could probably hold it out with my Teins.

As for my transmission im thinking about changing the clutch on it soon because my throw-out bearing is starting to squeal like a little baby. My shifts from 1-2 & 2-3 induces clunking especially in 2nd gear (Mazda shop error battle that I lost, which is probably what exacerbated the problem as it wasnt this bad before my transmission was leaking oil). So Im saving up for BHR's lightweight flywheel and the slightly higher clamping force Mazdaspeed Exedy clutch with HD release bearing in hopes that it will reduce the problem of clunking , wishful thinking really, ill probably end up getting RR's clutch petal reinforcement braket too. Its not like I need a heavy clamping force for this car considering the stock Exedy clutch clamping force can handle a moderately boosted RX8. Ill probably get an AFE SS as well.

My brakes are squealing pretty bad at low speeds and are starting to show burn marks it seems on my front rotors. I dont think the problem is out of hand yet but I really wouldnt like to be buying new rotors with new brake pads right now when im trying to get a new clutch & fly. If I have to go with new rotors and pads I will probably go with RB's one-piece curved F&R, nothing too aggressive with Hawk HP+ pads. Ill upload some pics in a few.

Thoughts?

Brandon,

I would check that your front calipers are not binding. Mine were doing something similar before I pulled the motor to put the new motor in and I found that one of my front calipers is seized. I actually got it unfrozen but I will be rebuilding both front calipers before the car is back on the road because they have 127,000 miles on them.

You might as well get new rotors, SS lines and pads instead of wasting money on a AFE SS. As for the transmission, swap out the fluid (use factory fill, not redline, RP, etc.) and see how she rides then.

I doubt it is your Teins, I sent mine to Tein thinking they were sagging and they tested fine and are actually on SWG's car now. My issue ended up being the shocks and installing new KYB shocks and a brand new set of Teins (didn't want to wait for Tein to test and send mine back) fixed that problem.

Also this may sound dumb but there was actually a TSB from Mazda about clunking in the wheels that was actually remedied by increasing the torque specs of the lug nuts to 108ft/lbs.

I'd say skip the lightweight flywheel, the weight difference is not worth the money.\

and I ditto everything 9K said.

I don't have any plans to upgrade/change out my stereo, but it'd be fun to go hang out and see those guys. Have a few 8's there representing...
