Picked up the Optima Redtop today because my old battery was dying on me. Upon installation the car feels immediately better with the Redtop. Good upgrade but I would like to look into a better battery harness or relocate the battery because the regular harness doesnt look like its going to keep the battery too long.

i had to brake rather abruptly in the rx7 and the slightly too short positive battery terminal popped out cuz i dont have a battery tie down for the car. didnt know till i tried to start my car next

yes. more electronics, but a bigger alternator as well. the one on the 7 is only a 50amp. idk what the 8s have.
yeah, i wouldnt want to do a track day without a battery. but putting around town you'll be fine. i was speaking around town driving, not WOT. So in the end we are arguing two different halves of the same whole.
damnit thomas. this is your fault.

If you look at the battery terminal you will realize alot of the cars electronics are connected to it, not the alternator so when you have a weak power your power will feel down, hence why a weak battery was one of the reasons for flooding and misfires in the upper RPM ranges under load.

Yeah, we've had the advantage of meeting a lot in person so there is a lot of back an forth banter between us on the forum using both our real life names and our forum names. My real name is Thomas.

Okay so I got basically all of my parts towards the end of last week and the beginning of this week. These are the parts that came in:
Not sure if its going to be this weekend or the next but I need to do this install before it gets too cold. As I take off my old rotors and pads I am going to inspect my front shocks as I think they are blown. If they are blown I will be sending them back to Koni to be rebuilt to handle a much stronger custom rate springs from more than likely Hypercoil. If they are not blown then I will need to figure out where my loud suspension rattle is coming from. I need to retighten the endlinks to make sure thats not where the rattle is coming from.
I feel I should be able to knock this whole thing out this weekend unless the blown struts cause me a few weeks setback time while I wait for them to get re-valved and for the new springs to come in. Ill probably be doing the work at my house incase I have to leave it on jack stands. Front bumper will be off to install the new fog lights & Housings.
I have a workshop manual to help me assemble & disassemble the brakes when I completely re-grease them but I could use help if anyone would like to drop by. I have changed my pads before but not rebuilt/regrease the whole brake assembly as well as new rotors. This is gonna be a decent project to knock out in one weekend...
I should have most of the tools but then again it doesnt hurt to bring some of your own tools just incase. Rather safe than sorry as I always say.
Troy should be helping me and Adam offered to help as well (text). Im gonna check the garage situation out Friday hopefully as this is where we will be working on my car but apparently there is a ton of boxes in the garage so I will keep yall posted if its this weekend or the next.
- RacingBrake slotted rotors
- Hawk HP+ brake pads
- RR Clutch petal reinforcement
- Black G2 caliper paint
- new foglight housings (mine were slightly leaking)
- Hoen Endurance (yellow) H11 bulbs
- Optima Redtop

Tomorrow morning I plan on doing this project ^^^^^^^ with Troy....... if anyone wants to come let me know, should be fun.
Also!!! My throw-out bearing has been squealing pretty bad and my clutch is starting to slip some. So a new clutch and flywheel are in the works.
So...I have ordered BHR's lightweight Flywheel combined with an Exedy Mazdaspeed clutch.
This project just got bigger but I dont plan on doing the clutch install myself. Thats a pretty big task and I dont have the tools to make that go as smooth as id like. So Rotary Performance should be getting a call soon for the install. Ill have them install RaceRoots Clutch reinforcement bracket at the same time. This will probably be next weekend (Fingers crossed )

the clutch bracket is quite possibly one of the easiest things to install yourself.
of course i have the mazsport clutch reinforcement bracket. which is identical yet completely unrelated somehow.
anyway, now that i have the welder i need to pull mine again and weld it up for good measure
