Bump...
Okay so im still having problems with my car. I got the rotors installed and got my new clutch/flywheel installed... blah blah blah...
So about 2 weeks ago I got my brakes and everything together, about a week ago my rear rotors started to make a grinding noise that I thought could be fixed my rebedding in my new rotors and pads... the noise has gotten WORSE and is way more audible than before. This is NOT a normal noise...
I think a piece of my RB rotor cracked or has a defect or something...
Take a look at the right rear rotor on the inside black piece
Compare to the left rear rotor
That crack on the black piece or "design" (assuming its part of the rotor and not a defect or cracked) could NOT be found on the left rear rotor so im thinking this is what is causing my problem. I dont have time yet to disassemble my brakes because of college finals...
Any ideas? Anyone had any RB rotor problems before in the past?

dude...im really starting to feel for you, you cant catch a break on any of this. from the looks of it something is digging into the rotor. hardware or something. not necessarily that the problem is with the rotor itself. start by spinning the rotor by hand. listen for noises and resistance etc etc.
double check all your pad hardware and such, report back

Hah, hooray for starting crazy bashing.
Finally got the 8 back, supposedly it's a brand new engine in there instead of a refurbished one. So huzzah to that, no problems so far.
Also, I had some odd noises out of my break rotors when I installed my slotted and drilled ones, turned out it was just a new noise to get used to, but no physical problems like you've got. I'd suggest playing with it some, maybe have someone take a look at it next time you're getting a rotation done. No idea what could have caused it though. Good luck on your finals.
Also, not totally complaining about the new engine, just that in the past 17k miles I've wrecked 2 rims on a missing section of road (I refuse to call that thing a pothole), replaced the clutch, replaced the starter and most of the ignition system, bits and pieces here and there that rusted to crap, and now the engine. I swear the thing is in the shop more often than I drive it.

how long have those rotors been on the car? a couple of weeks and they are already glazed over like that?...... the rotor face should not look like a mirror, they should have a sheen but not a reflection to the point where you can make out outlines.....
possible problems.....
1. rear calipers are locking up... had this happen to me before when I first installed the rotorpros.... The easiest way to check is to allow the car to roll, after coming to a complete stop, let off the brakes completely and see if the car rolls.
2. you didn't turn the piston in all the way, these calipers are a major pita..... easy fix though
3. you drive the car way too hard and are using the brakes way too much, no way should they have that glaze already, not to mention you already have grooves being cut into the rotor.... that in itself will cause squeeks and squeals

i believe this is the topic of discussion.
we cant know if this is whats causing it or not. like i said it looks like something may be digging into it here, or it could just be cosmetic and not affecting anything at all. the only way to know is to systematically pull everything off again and double check the install etc.

while that does raise some questions, I dont see how that (where its located) could be causing a grinding noise.
with the car on stands and wheels on, try to move the wheels by hand and see if the sound is generated then.... or if its only done while the brakes are applied.
this grinding noise, is it a constant or pulsing noise?
what compound are the brakes made out of? if they are a very hard compound, they would produce a grinding like noise until they heat up and become more pliable, then followed by the screeches that are common with racing brakes

i would actually be more worried about the scarring on the rotor face and all the brake dust that has accumulated in the slot, if these rotors are only a few weeks old.... that is way too much abuse for them to have already taken, unless you have driven over 3k miles on them

, I know the Brembos comment was just to **** with WTB, he was under the impression at one time that the RX8 brakes were Brembo. But our little brother has actually grown up into quite the little modder, I am proud of him.
