David, you know I appreciate your feedback... I do... But you seem to know more about this engine than even I do which is strange because you have yet to discuss this engine with Team nor Daryl. I know what it looks like... Its been used hardcore and even TEAM doesnt want it anymore... but I am fairly certain its not what it looks...

But to play Devils advocate and to be on your side lets say this engine IS fucked... Well, Im getting all news seals anyways and any parts that aren't OEM Minimum spec or better will be getting replaced... So that pretty much sums it up. Housings fucked up? Replaced... Etc. Etc.

Now with this reman motor Im pulling out of my 8 now I wouldnt mind rebuilding with you, as I wanted to go that route this time but cant afford my 8 being on Jackstands in SA while we rebuild it. Now that I have 2 motors, I can ship or load my bad one into a truck, drive down there and do a rebuild to see just what exactly caused this one to pop...

Edit: Also, I dont think Daryl would ship anyone a bad engine that didnt meet his standards... His engines and his name speak for themselves... just my .02 cents... but who knows... I could be wrong... Sure as hell feel more confident then getting a rebuild done Daryl then by BDC, despite the fact that I used to stand by his name...

I am confused... is Daryl rebuilding Teams old engine? or are you getting an engine Daryl built that team put 7k on?

If its a fresh rebuild by Daryl you are good to go!

I was under the impression that you were getting a used spare from team that he doesn't want to run anymore.

WTB, it is possible to keep your car in Dallas for the rebuild, we can come pull the motor in 1 day have it rebuilt the day after the parts arrive and then 1 day to install.

Just throwing that out there

Even if the engine is suboptimal, it's nothing a cycle or two of royal purple won't fix

Speaking of someone who is never wrong ... are you overdosing on LSD or something?

What he bought is the original factory engine from my RX8. Over 5000 of those miles are from street use from me breaking it in and driving it to long distance events with. The only thing I have in it is what I originally paid Mazda for the Rx8 in 2005 and the maintenance and care that was put into it after. Over the years I have picked up several low mileage factory engines that were sitting around unused. In 2008 I replaced that engine with one of these engines only because it was low mileage and I wanted to keep the original engine for a different purpose. Upon installation I couldn't tell any performance difference from the original engine. I ran the swapped engine for several years before doing the same thing again; swapping out with a lower mileage original factory engine, which currently is in my car.

The engine that came out is the one I gave to Oldragger free of charge when he blew his up and was discouraged enough to be talking about selling the Rx8. I suppose you will say that nobody in their right mind would swap out a perfectly good engine let alone give it to someone for free so it obviously had to be a total POS? Except that it was shipped to Pettit for them to rebuild and if your the least bit interested in understanding anything truthful then you can ask Oldragger what Pettit had to say about it on teardown, which btw is the same engine still in his car.

Fast forward to 2011 when I end up unemployed and went an entire year with zero income (and zero financial assistance, something I'm proud of so forgive me for boasting). Anxiety got the best of me and this original engine from my RX8 was sold to Hoss05. I'm curious to know if you told him the same nonsense that you posted here. Hoss pushed off the delivery several times when I kept trying to move it out. In time my employment situation changed and I had a change of heart about selling it. Reneging my deal with Hoss is not one of the proudest moments in my life, but I'm man enough to admit it. I had a personal attachment to it for a future project. Perhaps you can explain why I would do this for a crapped out POS engine when it was already sold months prior with cash in hand?

Since that time I came to the conclusion that the Renesis is not the ideal choice for an FI RX8 build, which is documented in various threads here. Brandon was in need of an engine and frankly my financial situation has not improved like I was hoping. So Zi agreed to sell him the engine. I told him at the time I was concerned that Hoss would feel slighted by my decision. I never intended things to turn out this way, but thats life and once again I have to sleep in the bed I've made for myself.

What I never told Brandon is that upon shipping the engine out to Mr Drummond is that I informed him it was on the way and that upon teardown if he found anything wrong that I'd appreciate him letting me know first so that I can inform Brandon and square it up with him. I'm kind of surprised you didn't also try to convince everyone here that my unblemished reputation as a forum seller that guarantees satisfaction is a lie too.

I may have questioned your intelligence at times, but the outright stupidity of your comments go beyond anything I would have expected. You are so misinformed and unknowlegable about any of this that you have no business posting any of that BS. I'm actually questioning if there is some ulterior motive for you to post such outright lies and mistruths. The fact that you admit not having any room to talk at all certainly didn't slow you down any.

Sure, I'm a forum hardass and plenty of people don't like me, but I don't tell lies about you or anyone else, certainly don't hate people or wish them harm even when they wish it on me, my reputation for backing up my sales to ther members here is unparalleled, and it's also known that I will go out of my way to help others when they really need it and ask for absolutely nothing in return.

I won't resort to calling you names or otherwise having a tantrum over it. I can only point out how wrong and offbase you are and let everyone else judge the situation for themselves. Good luck with your own self build and 3rd party perspective life in general. If you're not any better at getting your engine building and life skills straight then you'll need it.

You are buying an engine used only in a race car, built to be a race engine, which costs $10,000+ and has 7k on it. The owner spent $10,000+ on it and is not using it...

You want to put it in a street driven car...

It just doesn't add up... But that's me I have no room to talk at all... Also Team is always right, so you do what you want.

Anwyays, good luck man I really hope it works out should be a fun little car if everything goes to plan.

Hi Mark,

I have no idea where you came up with 80% of that post.

I was simply going off of the facts that Brandon gave me, lets have a re-cap shall we?

The facts at the time were as follows:

I was under the impression that you were selling him a used drummond rebuild with 7k of auto-x on it. I was incorrect and found that out later after some more posts... Now lets fast forward a few posts! Oh hey look what I wrote.

If its a fresh rebuild by Daryl you are good to go!

I was under the impression that you were getting a used spare from team that he doesn't want to run anymore.

I have no idea where you are getting the idea that i was attacking your character or reputation. I was simply telling Brandon to avoid putting in an engine with 7k of Auto-x. After the discovery process and some back and forth you can see that I have the facts straight now.

Bottom line: I did not interrupt Brandons original post correctly and was under the impression that he was getting a used drummond rebuild that you no longer wanted to run.

Maybe next time you want to read all the posts before blowing up? Hope this helped clear things up for you?

P.S. My engine is running fine, thanks for asking!

.

FYI - Had a great experience at Jack Junkies in Plano (Home - Jack Junkies - DIY Auto Repair Garage). Replaced brake pads(front/rear) and the lift bay made it a breeze - nice staff, all the tools on hand, easy cleanup.
