It's mostly clean up stuff, right? Should be able to knock that out pretty easily if you dedicate a little time each day before it's time to shove it all back in there.

If anyone local is interested: I have a piano black voodoo shift **** still left over from when I had the 8. I've had it sitting around for a while now so I'm fine with just giving it away if someone wants it.

Clearly you're not planning ahead. These RX-8's are so unreliable that you never know when you'll need a replacement ****.

I'll accept 9k's post as a dibs for grunge until he posts something. If anyone else is interested, post up and I'll start a list in case he's not interested.

So was think that I would go with my exhaust for my next upgrade. I've been reading threw multiple threads of teasers and b/s all day and right now it's looking like an OBX header, BHR mid, and either a Borla or Turbo XS will be on the list of what to save up to buy. Anyone have any of these/ have had any of these installed, or just knowledge about them that I might have lost in the endless reading threw crap?

I have the BHR midpipe and Turbo XS exhaust. The OBX header is probably ok, but don't expect any gains from it and expect noise if you run a catless midpipe. also, replacing the header can be a PIA if you are limited on a proper work area and tools, the bolts/studs often break due to age so you need to be prepared for that.

The TurboXS is very well built and fitment is perfect for the price but I don't like the sound when compared to Racing beat Revi, Borla, and my old HKS Hi-Power. My turbo should change the sound of the TurboXS a bit and then I will decide if I want to get rid of it.

I love my BHR pipe and the change is sound is dramatic on any exhaust it is mated with so keep that in mind, and do not decide based on videos and sound clips because exhaust on the RX-8 sound way different in person.

Thx for the info. On paper the gains v. price of the TurboXS seem a lot better than that of the Borla but as far as sound goes I've heard a few with the Borla and I like it's sound (personally I think it looks a bit better as well). So I'm basically up in the air on the way it would sound paired with the BHR mid and if it would be worth the price tag. As far as the OBX header thanks I now know to only get that if I can take up room on the shop floor on the weekend or something.
When are you planning on putting the turbo on? If you need help I can help a bit but I don't have experience with putting them on the 8s

Hey guys, i'm having a problem with my radio. I replaced a non working unit with one that does not have a tape deck (which seems to be the only difference), however it will play CD's and display properly but there is no sound coming through the speakers. The audio guy tells me its a compatibility issue between models and that the new unit will not send signal to the amplifiers...

Does this sound at all familiar to anyone?

The Turbo XS is a full 3 inch system which is good for forced induction applications but maybe too much flow IMO for an NA car. Hoss-05's car actually felt stronger with the stock exhaust compared to mine so I am thinking the 3 inch systems are too much. But for $500.00 you get the catback and midpipe from Turbo XS. That is really a deal you cannot beat in terms of price/quality/reward. But if you have $1300.00 to burn, you won't be disappointed in the Borla/BHR combo I can assure you.

I would also look at the Megan system or AP system with Ti tips. Quality looks pretty good from what I have seen and you get sexy ti tips. Although a couple of people have gone with the Ebay systems and have been very happy. Here in Texas we have the luxury of not having to worry about the type of metal used, etc. since we don't have to worry about rust like the people up north.

As for sound, well you can always have different mufflers/resonators welded in for pretty cheap to change the sound to your liking.

My turbo is not back from rebuild yet but when it is I will be putting the new motor and engine back in at the same time.

wrong thread but did you have a Bose system in the first place? A non Bose headunit will not work with a Bose system and vise versa.

You will soon get to hear the BHR midpipe and borla combo. I think it will be about the best sounding exhaust combo bar none.

Also unless you go big turbo you will not see a power difference between the Turbo XS and 90% of the aftermarket exhausts out there.

If I was to stay NA I would pick up a high end exhaust and wait on the rumored upcoming long tube header/mid pipe combo.

Most youtube videos are just people revving there car engines stationary with zero load. The exhaust will sound 100% different under load.

Yeah arguments about exhaust diameter go way back. Brettus is not running a 3" exhaust with his turbo setup and is making great HP so............ I also remember back in the day when the Jackson racing supercharger came out for the DOHC Honda's, people always made more HP running the stock exhaust.
