Seriously though I'd love to come down and hang with you guys. Scott if you need help with that engine install you know you can call.

LOL @ Grungepup actually boosting ever :P I hope he dose.

We will have some crazy nice cars. 99% of my parts are on the floor already. I ordered my RB rear flare things to go with my Mazdaspeed sides and front today.

I think i will end up Really taking my time with the SC install though. I will have a bunch of little odds and ends that will pop up. I hope to start ordering some of those here in the next month or so. I for sure want to get the R3 in before I do the change out of the engine trans clutch cooling and oil stuff.

I guess for now I want to focus on the body and suspension bits and we can even do further work on the sensor package.

On another note any one looking for a room mate? It is my goal to move back by December then buy a house after my taxes get back and I would like to live on the cheap until then. I may be back earlier pending on jobs.
You are always welcome at my house man, but stay out of my **** stash and remember my kiddos are there every other weekend and during the summer. Plus, no parties, I am a old fart

An expensive chunk too

Retards. I wonder why the owner would just leave it sitting there all that time.

I can only assume it doesn't run... by now it would definitely need new tires and the fluids replaced. I'm guessing the owner still lives here, but maybe they just left it.

I did a lot of research and talked to a lot of builders and judged my decision based on what they had to say. Rob at Pineapple was just a dream to deal with and everything he promised he delivered. besides, the fact that he has been around for many years and I didn't find anything negative about them pretty much gave me the confidence that I would get what I paid for. Plus pineapple does not require full payment up front which is good for the buyer as well.

But Brian @ BDC, and Brad @ Rotary Inspired were also great to work with. I would work with Brad, he was very helpful and I think if he had more RX8 guys that could vouch for him I would have taken a risk but he is kind of new to the RX8 scene so I wasn't as confident taking a risk.

Yea 9k is the guy to talk to about getting a stable engine in an 8 with these temps. He will probably make you buy a single oil cooler and some other stuff too.

cool, thanks for the feedback, I think I have my wife sold on this becoming a project car so to speak, I am not sure if I want to go all out or not...I kind of liked it the way it was (more referring to FI but it is not out of the question yet)....lol

I may reach out to you with questions as the come up my main concern is getting a reliable engine, that will not die when its 111.9 outside

test came out as follows:
Rotor 1=7.2, 7.1, 7.1 @278rpm
Rotor 2=6.8, 7.0, 7.1 @280rpm

I was surprised this was totally drivable after a zoom zoom clean (I know I broke down and paid for it to get the most accurate compression test....not sure if I was snookered here or not)

I highly suggest using Pineapple Racing or at least make sure your builder uses the heavy duty water seals made by Pineapple Racing.

Brian will be rebuilding my next engine if we dont do it ourselves. He will at least be doing the balancing and porting for sure. I may have him open up the coolant jackets around the spark plug area.

I want to try a few different things with my engine build... such as WPC treated side housings, cryo treated side seals and ba-da-ba half bridge port. I of course will be using Pinapples water seals and most likely goopy or nrs apex seals. I want to try Racing beats lightened rotors but they are Way to expensive.

Yeah, I will stick with stock seal size. It cost alot of money to get get your rotors custom machined to fit anything else. I believe anything other then stock sizes are not required unless you do crazy boost and even that is questionable. I have Never herd of anyone having problems with there stock apex seals unless they are taken out by something else.

I am going to call pineapple today and start the discussion; I am still throwing around the idea of FI vs NA....decisions decisions. I can already see about 10k worth of **** and the more I look list just gets bigger and bigger. its like if I am going to have the engine out of the car what all can I do to keep the knuckle busting down to a minimum

I have a meeting with the president of the company today maybe I will solicit him for a sponsorship.....lmao...jk

Rob is in Hawaii installing/tuning a 3 rotor for a drag car right now, the best bet is to email him at sales@pineappleracing.com and then wait until Tuesday to talk to him on the phone and discuss all the options. Forced induction is not something to jump into man, get you motor rebuilt and then after a few months decide if you want forced induction.

All the little stuff adds up man, i suggest doing as much as you can while you are NA and then consider FI.

Thanks for the feedback, I am mainly thinking of things that would create a conflict down the road. I think going with a few of the "standards" (ex: cobb, sohn, mazda oil stuff, major cooling in this crazy weather, etc) but I am still investigating. I have exhaust, brakes, cai and soon to be suspension on the way.

If you don’t mind me asking what did you end up paying for your pineapple? Is it in line with the other 13b motors on their website (excluding the porting, oil mod and other upgrades)? Just a ball park would be good, got to start a budget and prioritize. I am going to keep driving it until it starts stalling again...I really thought I was going to have to get another car to get me by...I at the idea of driving a civic/camry
