right, I am more of a function over form guy anyway.

It does appear that I will have to remove an oil cooler (it doesnt state that in the "instructions", they much have made the write up while doing an automatic.

we shall see

also being that I cannot set the car on the ground (control arm issue), can I still get the end links off without creating a catastrophe?

Well It's not forum appropriate...

In any event, I was going to work on my car then decided that it was to hot still.

Whens the next install day? I got my coilovers I need to install but I need some motivation.

What are you planning to knock out? I don't know about a specific mod day coming up, but I'm sure 9k might be looking to finish his stuff up next weekend if he has all of the parts (assuming he didn't already start most of it this weekend... guessing his turbo didn't get in that quickly though).

There's a few things I need to get done on my car, but I'm hoping to take care of a lot of it before next weekend if possible. At the very least, I'd like to get my AC working again lol. Depending on what I find out about my misfire issues, I might be able to knock that out next weekend if I can get parts in quick enough.

Just wanted to pop in my coilovers.

But I'd rather work on someone else's car if at all possible lol. I hate working on my own car, these days...

I have not worked on anything or got my turbo back unfortunately. I majorly fucked up my back at some point last weekend. Grungepup and I moved my motor to my "work table", I moved a heavy oak dining room table to the house, and I moved a new computer desk into the house and so at some point I aggravated and old injury. I feel a bit better today after getting a good long rehab treatment at the office and an adjustment by my chiropractor coworker but I am still sore.

Hopefully if i take it easy this week I will be able to fully recover by next weekend and be ready to rock and roll so if anyone wants to wrench come on by. Coilovers should be an easy job in this nice weather.

Well the fact that you bought a 4 port auto and said you had a 13B (rotary from 1974-on) ready to go in, yet you don't know enough to know that any type of engine swap is a huge undertaking (especially in an auto). But then you ask for a shop recommendation which tells me you can't do the work yourself. Then you said you could get a Mazda reman installed for $2,000.00 (more like $5,000.00) and that you read all the problems are related to 2004 motors.

Everything you said is just kind of ridiculous to be honest so it seemed trollish (someone looking for a flamefest).

Anyone seriously considering an engine swap would not ask the questions you asked so I immediately thought you were trying to waste my time. The engines problems are with the 13B-MSP from 2003-2008, not just the 2004's. You just hear about more 2004 engine failures because they are the oldest and typically have the highest mileage.

I don't want to come off as a dick but you really need to stop starting threads and start reading the threads that are already here for new members. Start by reading the threads in my signature below.

Well when some one who has been around nothing but bikes his whole life
I Do not no anything about rotaries.

Mazda said 2,200 for motor, then it went up to 3,700 then 4,700 + core charge.
My buddy has a rx7 motor that's why i asked.

and i have only posted 2 threads.

I talked to a rotary mechanic here in sa who said ls1 swaps are most popular.
and that he could do all the fab work for 3,500.

He got my motor running perfect ( was flooded )
now i just need new trans and im good to roll.

I am not going to apologize for being stupid when it comes to rotaries lol.
get me in front of a bike it's a diff story.

You started a thread about which oil to use and there are a billion threads on that subject and there is no "right" answer. All you will get by starting a thread like that is 100 uneducated opinions. I am not asking you to apologize for being a noob, I am just asking you to educate yourself and you are not doing that by starting threads and asking questions that have been asked and answered 100 times before. This board has been around 8 years and any question you are even thinking of asking about your rx-8 has been answered before.

Your rotary mechanic is full of **** because no one has really successfully put an LS1 in a street driven RX-8. I'm glad he got it deflooded but it doesn't take a mechanic to do that, it is a common issue and the deflood procedure is in the owners manual and on the DVD. But I am glad you got it running either way.

The only person in SA really capable of a swap of that magnitude is Tito from Alamo Rotary and even he has not done an LS swap into an RX-8. Not to mention that he doesn't do Mechanic work anyway.

Not my Mechanic lol. just a guy i know.
and i tried the deflood method pedal etc.

did not work.
and i did not have the tools to get plugs out my socket kept hitting motor mount.

he made it sound like an easy swap. i take your word for it.
he probably is full of ****.

I tried using search but kept getting un-relevant stuff.

it's all good man no worries.

Some of the flaming is the result of someone who sounded similar from a while back... he had the idea of being able to own, maintain and modify an RX-8 on the cheap and it didn't work out.

I'd say the best thing you can take from this would be to search around and do as much research as you can. I'm sure you're anxious to get your new car running perfectly, but you might find yourself running into unexpected costs or problems if you don't take the time to get as much information as possible.

In terms of oil... you found the most conclusive answer rx8club has to offer. Pretty much everyone has a personal preference and reason for their oil choice. Go to advanced search, enter oil as the keyword and change it from "search entire posts" to "search thread titles". Read through a few and make a decision for yourself. Just to give you an idea... people can't even agree on synthetic vs non-synthetic oil.

If using the search function doesn't work, google is pretty effective as well. You could expect to spend upwards of $10k for a 13b swap... unless you have a close friend willing to work with you during spare time, it is definitely not cheaper than a mazda reman. It's quite a bit of work and money.

Good luck with the transmission repairs... hopefully that's all it takes to get your car running properly. You got a pretty great deal if that's all it needs. Depending on how well you know and trust the guy giving you quotes, you might want to request the quote be made out in paper before work starts. You definitely don't want him to start working and risk the chance that he underestimated the costs and asks for a lot more to finish the job.

I deflooded an 07 auto that was stuck in a parking garage for 3 days, on a slant..... the pedal method works, it just takes patience and a good battery. It took me about 2 days of tinkering with it for it to finally kick over

once back to the house i swapped the plugs, coils and wires, runs like a champ now....... the plugs were so siezed up on the block that I had to use an impact wrench to get them off.
