I should be picking it up on the 20th of this month, I wanted to do it last week but I didn't want to be on the road for New Year's Eve lol
I'm gonna end up driving it back home because it's going to be cheaper than shipping it and then flying back home, hopefully no engine problems on the way back![Fingersx](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/fingersx.gif)

this weekend I am picking up a 2010 S2 tranny with 5k miles
need some feedback on the direction to take while I do my engine rebuild. Part of me wants to save the $$ and bypass the flywheel….but part of me doesn’t… clutch is pretty much a must do just not sure if I should go exedy racing or exedy replacement?
Option 1: 12lb lightened flywheel and exedy clutch (clutch is on sale)
Option 2: Stock with both
Option 3: Stock Flywheel and Exedy clutch (clutch is only $30 more than stock Exedy replacement)
I assume the throw out bearing is different for a S2 tranny (RB.com has a 09-11 specific bearing but it doesn’t give me an option to swap it on the exedy kit)?

Also the electronic plugs on the transmission will no longer match but they can simply be cut and spliced together. I also have a Transmission hoist at Scott's place I'm sure he would let you barrow. You may also need an alignment tool.
LOL wanna do mine at the same time :P I wish I was home to give you a hand we could do two at once.

If you are staying NA then consider a lightweight flywheel but for FI I have found that some think a lighter flywheel is a hindrance and that the extra weight of the stock flywheel is preferred.
I always wanted a lightened flywheel because I have heard it was the best mod for the RX-8, but that is NA. But like everything else, you will get a million conflicting opinions

That's kind of how I felt, flywheel was worth it but only if you didn't go "too" extreme. I was thinking 12lb vs 9lb since there is some value in that inertia.
In my head FI is on the list but I am not sure I will make that investment for a while (not to say I would pass up a deal
)....... maybe next rebuild.

I think I am going pass on the flywheel for now, just do a new clutch with the tranny. Should I get the existing flywheel resurfaced?
why the hell have I been up since 5am on a Friday....ugh

that's what really makes me question the "$500" investment. If there isn't really a return on lightened flywheel I have a whole slew of other things to spend that money on but I don't want to half-*** my project.

I noticed it in my Z which had a 28lb stock wheel the lightweight one was 15 (i think).
but yea 4 lbs rotational sure its going to help but its not like 90s sports cars with huge heavy flywheels.

Houston and 9K y'all should drive my car and see if you notice a difference. Maybe there is a difference that I didn't notice!

Yeah butt dynos are weird. What always gets me is just how different 8's feel. I have driven quite a few and they all feel different from mine is different ways. Grungepups feels really nice with the Koni's, that is what made me want them.
