When the engine is cold it smokes, at first I thought it had to do with the scavenge system but it does not, oil is leaking on the turbine inlet side as well. Basically it was just a shitty rebuild. AMR wants to rebuild it again and their customer service has been great but I'm not going to bother with them rebuilding it again (shipping back and forth is expensive), I am just going to eat the cost I spent to get it rebuilt by them. BNR needs a core so I am using this one as the core and going with the BNR 60-1 turbo.

Yeah it is quite annoying. But I was warned about rebuilds being hit or miss sometimes so it serves me right. I wish I could find a place to get a new T618Z. I contacted Greddy USA and the price list they gave me does not have the T618Z on it and the guy told me on the phone that if it is not on the list then he can't get it separate from the whole kit.

Ah, that sucks. I had always expected that would clear up after getting some miles on it. Sucks that it's an actual issue. I can definitely understand wanting to go with BNR at this point. It would be awesome if AMR had offered some sort of partial refund. The BNR has kind of become the favorite option here, right?

I think it's just hard for AMR to comprehend how tight of a space it is on the Renesis since they deal with Subies that have tons of room around the turbo. So they tried two center sections and neither one is right for the Renesis since I have to clock it to get the coolant lines and oil lines to clear the exhaust manifold and lower intake manifold.

BNR learned from experience on the Renesis and picked a center section that works perfectly, and puts the coolant lines away from the exhaust manifold and lower intake manifold while allowing the oil to drain straight down and the feed line stays the way it is supposed too. I didn't quite understand all of the restrictions when I was planning all this, you just don't realize how tight a fit it is until you start installing stuff. Plus, the BNR customers all seem very happy and I have not heard of any reliability issues so that is good.

So it's time for me to get some new brake rotors and I'm entertaining the idea of going aftermarket. I've always like the linearity of the stock rotors (progressively harder bite) and I was wondering if you guys were running any aftermarket rotors that you really liked.

Most of us are running the RotorPros rotors. they are stock replacements with the options of slots/drilled/dimpled and colors for the hubs if ya want. their website is www.rotorpros.net. You cannot beat their prices... I got slotted/drilled with black hubs for less than $300 shipped...

most excellent. I'll for sure check into them. Do they retain the stock feel, or do they have greater initial bite in your opinion?

I recently drove my room mates 350z and is brakes were so touchy and I did NOT enjoy that.

I have had them the longest (couple of years) and I run hawk ceremics and they stop great. They stop just like stock but a little better. I also change my fluid every year or so.

I love them, I am running Hawk HPS and so far so good.

Definitely a must on the regular fluid change!

In fact I talked a buddy of mine at the office into them and will be helping him install them next Thursday or Friday....its a good excuse to leave work early.

Sweet. I may just go ahead and give 'em a try. I usually try to change my fluid every 1-1.5yrs as well. I have been running Hawk HPS for the past 70k miles and they seem to do the job for me.

I did not get mine painted, just zinc plated. The paint seems to come off a bit at where the wheel makes contact with the rotor so just keep that in mind. You can't see it when the wheels are on but FYI if you are picky about that stuff.

I'll double check)....it was a real win because I have had this buzz in the door for some time and thought it was inside the panel....turned out to be the painted cap on the side-view mirror.....no more buzz....wooohooo

The hub-wheel paint rub doesn't bother me. I painted the hub on the stock rotors black to keep the rust at bay and they also peel where the wheel meets the hub. Thanks for y'alls input. We need to get together for some beers in the near future. If I'm going to be asking questions I might as well be asking them with a beer in my hand, no?

I've always wanted puddle lights, how hard were they to install?

We do for sure. It's been too long since we had a meet. It figures it's beautiful today and then it's going to get cold as **** this weekend.

I also have a few sets of waterproof high power red LED pods that fit perfectly in the mirror for puddle lights if white is not your style. They are super easy to install (door panels off, a 4 vampire clips, 10-15 zipties, 2 inches of 3m double sides foam tape, 10 ft of speaker wire and some hot glue. 1 hour install tops.

I'll try to find a link to my results

Now only if I could find an excuse to install the 6k HID bulbs I have (I am almost done with the full LED swap but V-LED's has had my blinker and brake bulbs back ordered since late november....BASTARDS...but I don't want to ask from a refund because I got them for 60% off
