AFE + Momo short anotomic weighted shift ****
like like the feel a lot

series 2 shifter is nice too
gates are a little bit wider than a short shifter but still short enough that stock feels good

AFE SS is next on my Mod list after some Enkei RPF1s... im thinking some 18x9.5 +45 offset in Silver running some either 265/35 or some fat 275/35's....

So Scott, whats the deal on the SARX tuning event? any news? Jw

I wouldn't go as far as to say I was blown away, but it was definitely one of my favorite mods and fixed a few of the problems I had with the stock shift feel.

I guess it was a bigger difference, in my opinion, since it's one of the things that you almost always interact with while driving and it adds up over time. If you compare it to my nitrous, the nitrous probably made more of a difference when I used it. That said, I didn't have the tank filled all too often and I didn't have it open most of the time, so the shifter made more of a difference if you add it up over the length of ownership.

I definitely miss the stock RX-8 shift feel. The shifter in my S4 is terrible in comparison. 9k knows how it feels... He stalled it because there's so much play in first that it feels like it might be in neutral after first starting the car up. I know I did the same thing just after getting it. I'm used to it now, but I'd definitely like to see if a short shifter makes a significant difference on my car.

It;s on hold until my new turbo gets installed. Kane is also swamped right now with getting everything up and running. Did you register on Kanes site?

Are you getting a short shifter?

ehhh you can pick up a pair of used sways for about that price. I was much more blown away by upgraded sway bars.

Sways are my next investment. I actually pulled the trigger on the Hotchkis but then they were back ordered, and then delayed, so I just cancelled my order. Now I am thinking of running the R3 rear sway and the Hotchkis or the Whiteline HD bar for the front.

The white lines are very HQ however are also very stiff. I found that most bars on the market are to stiff for anything but flat out road racing.

I found out that the R3 has a solid rear bar, I think that would be a nice addition since most say not to even upgrade the rear bar but I figure Mazda did it for a reason and for the price why not and then for the front I could get something nice. All in good time.

There's a track like that behind my apartment off 35 and parmer.

Let me tell you there is no sweet sound on a hungover Saturday morning than a bunch of RC cars going at it for hours....

As I understand it the need for a stiff rear bar increases with ride height. I believe with a lowered car the need for a stiff rear bar gos down the lower you are.

The idea behind even using "anti" roll bars is up for great debate. Some racers are in the camp where they dont even use bars other like a very stiff bar. I am far from an expert but it was recommended to me by my suspension guy that I use the hotkiss bar on soft in the front and the stock rx8 bar or NC miata rear bar. He did his calculations based on my ride height being at 13"s in the front and 13.5"s in the rear. Having a soft rear bar can also help with grip on a high HP car.
