The reliability and gas mileage were key factors.... The lightweight and power is comparable to the 8

They are somewhat comparable but the weight difference is negligible IMO. A 04-08 6 speed Sport weighs in at about 2,886lbs, a BRZ weigh 2,747lbs. 139lbs overall is nothing. But the 8 has about 30 more WHP and almost 30 ft/lb of torque. I would guess the 09-11 Sports are the about the same as the 04-08's.

The difference between a GT RX-8 and a BRZ is about 310lbs. Still not staggering but likely noticeable on the track. Now if they come out with a BRZ/FRS in the 250HP range then we would be talking, that would be a nice power/weight ratio.

We all know the 8 power is exaggerated .... Lists 240 but in reality can vary 180-200 tuned.

We test drove the genesis r-spec, felt like an under powered camaro. The thing is fast but does not want to turn for crap, I scared the salesman when I almost put it in the wall in a turn around. I was only doing 40 and the car only wanted to go straight.

Haven't has a chance to test drive the brz yet, so if we aren't thoroughly impressed and don't want it we get our deposit back.

Yeah I would say 195WHP is safe bet based on what the Series II's have been putting down stock. So a 30WHP difference is about right between the two.

Oh so ya'll haven't driven the BRZ yet. You drove the R spec Genesis? I thought you drove the previous model, that model didn't have the R Spec, just a track option. The new model adds about 70HP to the Turbo version and almost 60 to the V-6 models. I haven't driven one but so far the reviews have been good.

Yeah, we wanted to drive the turbo version but they only had the base model and the Rspec version at the time (and it was yellow). It felt like a pig trying to turn it. The take off was smooth and the acceleration put you back in your seat, but as you got up in speed it felt like it wanted to float across the lanes. Not very stable at all, well atleast compared to an 8.

But yeah, we haven't been able to test drive one yet. They are only slated to get in 10 this year, and have gotten 6 so far. When we signed up for it, there were about 14 people on the list, but for some reason the computer put us next in line for the next delivery.... Sept 2012. It was kinda weird, and even the salesman said to expect atleast april before it comes in. But that if it did come in in Sept, and it had everything we ordered, then its ours. We told him that we would have to test drive it first, and they have no problem with that. And if we don't like it at that point they will refund our deposit, because in his words "it will still sell" He told me that they have atleast 5-6 a day come and ask about it, but no one really wants to put up the money and wait. He said the 2013 production run only has 6000, and that slated for 2014, is not much more. So all around it something we were both looking for to replace her car, something unique and fun. We had sat down and talked about her 8, we started noticing the engine starting to hiccup already again, the tranny needed attention, then there was the rust issue on the under carriage.... so with all that it wouldn't have been really worth it to put it on the track. This car will have a warranty and is economical. We still miss and regret letting go of her car, but in the position we were in, it was the only option we had.

Yeah RX-8's are a pain in the *** to own as it is so having two is rough. It will be a better car for overall.

Now I'm curious about the Genesis, I'll have to go drive one soon

Ouch. But that is what usually happens to those, there are too many low points on our cars as it is.

I ordered this shift **** from moddicion.com

Moddiction Anvil Shift ****

Austin I asked them about the engraved shift pattern and here is what they answered...

The shift pattern I have a sample being made of right now. Should have pictures available this coming week. I will then be doing an engraved batch within 2 weeks after that.

If it fails I'm going to slap my turbo on crank the boost to 20 and hold the gas pedal down all the way to S.A.

If I don't die in a giant fireball of awesomeness then we can throw in a new engine!
