Yeah from the people I served with from Texas. It is definitely its own state.

Funny. I did not like many of the first people i met from TX when i was in the service. It took awhile for me to meet some that i got along with then i noticed a trend. I got along Great with anyone from TX that was from one of the big citys. It was mostly the small town Texins i did not get along with. Now that i look back on that its a bit odd since i myself am from a small country town.

Dear SA team;

Last nights game ruined my night, and my day. If your team doesn't finish off the Heat tomorrow, we will no longer be friends.

It was a tough loss, but they cannot blame anyone but themselves.

Manu needs to lift up the skirt, remove the tampon, and start playing like the future hall of famer he wants us to believe he is. Parker and Duncan are playing on their final ounces in the tank, and I fear that the needle is gunna hit E in the middle of game 7 . DGreen was MIA yesterday. The only praise I can give is that Splitter finally learned how to bury the ball in the basket.

I never understood constantly rooting for the losing team. It must be a Philly thing. Go Cowboys.

Typical Miami bang wagon fan Spurs petered out, no excuses tonight. Lebron showed up and Parker, Green, and Ginobli did not.

So my cat is starting to fail.... mazda was going to replace it however the owner before my 06 shinka replaced it with a after market cat so they wont cover it now. I have been attempting to do some research on how to salvage the cat to buy some extra time until I can get the funds since i just went on vacation and blew savings.

Ive heard about seafoam cleaning, laqerthinner in the gas tank?? and also removing the cat and letting it sit over night in detergent to clean the filter in it. Now i know we have special engines so before i try anything id want to make sure nothing will cause anymore damage.

I also saw that if a cat is running at 95% vs 100% it could also trip the alarm but doesnt mean its completely failed. I recently replaced the thermostat for the engine since it was jumping to 105-116. Temp has been good but after 3 days of taking the car out of dealer the cat light came on and i cleared it but hasnt come back on in a week. So i took it to the dealership to see if it was false alarm or the thermostat they fixed wasnt done right since the temp jumped up twice then went back down after a minute. Mentioned the cat code and they looked at it and sad that was it. Im guessing my cat is still good but slowly getting clogged.

Its really hard to understand what you are trying to say. I am going to take a stab at it, correct me if I am wrong...

You have an aftermarket midpipe on your car, your car has a check engine light on for the rear 02 sensor?

You took it to the dealer they said you had a bad cat due to the rear 02 sensor code. They want to install a brand new cat in your car to correct the issue.....

Did I guess correctly?

It is common knowledge that the check engine light will light up with aftermarket mid-pipes. The rear 02 sensor detects heat only, if the cat is not there the sensor will show a higher reading making the computer think that it has a failed sensor or bad cat.

This will not effect engine performance at all, unless the aftermarket mid pipe has a high flow cat in it that is slowly getting clogged.

We need more details so we can point you int he right direction.

Lol I appreciate the attempt but no the prev owner installed a after market cat n is clogging. I cleared the code on monday n it literally just came back on. I took it in before due to thermostat for engine failing regulating the coolant flow but now its the cat issue. I need to prolong the life aince I just blew money on vacation.

the code is for a failing cat p0420. I know im not that great in automotive tech but i do my best to keep things in top shape. From my understanding in the catalytic converter there is a filter that can get clogged with carbon build up as well and start to overheat. most people just change it out due to not knowing this but with everything ive been researching they said i could attempt to cleaning it and prolong life but wanted the input of my fellow senior rx8 owners.

correct me if im wrong i mean no disrespect and like i said im not tech savvy just trying to get some advice to help till i can get the remaing funds. I love my 8...

Stop driving the car if it has a clogged cat, Either Buy a new OEM Cat which is expensive, Find a used one which won't last long depending how old, Punch it through, Cut off the old one Add a high flow cat, Or buy a Mid-Pipe.

You Have like 5 Choices to choose from

alright so this is where my knowledge goes out the door. I do the simple things to keep it in top shape. What would you guys recommend? Can anyone explain the difference in the high flow vs a reg cat? I am also considering a midpipe however would there be a best one to get and in SA do we fail emissions here?

Good news is a buddy of mine may be able to get me the OEM cat for half the price. Regardless of the outcome would any of you be willing to assist in changing out this part for Ive never done major mechanical work like this.

think of me as the simple top off fluids guy. Ive switched out my plugs, coils, wires, n filter before. you know that feeling when ya first do something on your own for the first time without instructions? I dont have my tools no more and I go to my buddies to use his but he is out of town for a bit.

All and all im just seeking help and guidance.. it may be easy for you but this is unknown terrirtory for me. This is my everyday car and i need it up and running. Id let the mazda peeps do it just lacking the funds at the moment
