Navy is the way to go. I went to over 25 ports in four years and slept in air conditioning every single night and went to college. If you want to learn a skill pick a tech MOS regardless of what branch you decide on.

The Army has gone through a huge restructuring in the last five years or so. What are the goals of joining. There are many "fun" MOSs that a person can do but they dont really always make for good careers outside the military. I highly recommend something in the 35 series as most people in those jobs get good clearances. I use to be what is now a 35T or "intelligence and electronic repair maintenance and support technician" so im kinda partial to that one. I have always thought it would be fun to become an airborne journalist or forward support in a spc ops unit. If you have anymore questions feel free to contact me via pm. Also 9k has a good point and sometimes I wish I would have gone Coast Guard instead of Army when 9/11 hit.

Hey guys, help me find lit switches for my nitrous. I need three switches. I am thinking different colors for identification.
This?
or this? With these you just drill a round hole so they are easier to mount.

+ 1 on the 3/4 inch rocker switch... preferably the round one. I have that same swtich for my underglows. Make sure you ground it well other wise the arming led/light will not turn on when its armed/unarmed.

if you go airborne, you will go to 505th MI at Bragg, i know this because its the only MI unit in the army, once airborne you will never leave Bragg again, while I love Bragg it is not the rest of the Army, it is and always will be a step up above the rest of the Army. There are Army standards and then there are Bragg standards. You will probably like Bragg, there is plenty of stuff to do around there, meaning Myrtle Beach, VA Beach, Raleigh, Charlotte......

that extra $ means something right now though...im taking a pretty good pay cut going into the army...even though im gonna be an E3 when i go to boot camp....although not having to pay for insurance and housing and food will help out...and the bonus will help balance things out too....either way...i already signed off on the job so no turning back now!!! guess i better start reading up on bragg...haha

Army? Why dude, why?!!!!! Being deployed blows. Your a smart guy, if you joined the Navy you could have rated a shore duty tech job and never had to be away from your daughter. What is your MOS going to be?
I hope you get training you can use later in life because no matter how you slice it, military pay will never compete with the real world. I do miss the service at times and value the training I received but the thoughts pass as I remember being away for 6-8 months at a time.
If I stayed in I would be retiring soon but then I probably would have missed half of my kids lives and I'd be making about what I make now. But if you already signed man then I can assume you have thought of all this. I wish you the best of luck!!!

I used to go up to Langley and mess with all the Air Force Intel chicks and man they had it made, they all had their own little apartments, worked four on, three off, and never got deployed anywhere.
Good luck man, as with everything else, make the most of it. we had a colleg program afloat with professors and the whole bit and always surprised me how people never took classes. I mean you are out at sea with little to do on your off time, why not get a degree.
What are you looking at doing once you get out? Secret Service? CIA? One of my old shipmates went into the Secret Service after he was in DC and he does credit card fraud investigations in Iowa or some ****. It was funny when I talked to him because I always thought they just protected the president.
