PCA Autocross this Sunday - September 11th 2005
Everybody needs to come out to the PCA race this sunday at mineral wells. I am driving well over an hour to attend, so it would be nice to see some other 8s as well. My car is still running super rich but i'm going anyways. I won't put up amazing times but i have a few other personal racing goals i will try to accomplish this weekend.
Mineral Wells is a large field so expect a high speed course. (High Speed by Auto-X Standards). Since it is a PCA Race, also expect a very fun course. They never dissapoint.
Go here and register...

BUMP...
Yes i'm bumping my own thread.
If anyone can make it out this sunday, you should def try and come. I don't want to keep hearing that your waiting for some mod before you race. There are plenty of stock drivers out there as well. Whether your modded or not, its just as fun.
ANYWAYS... if you are interested but can not make it this weekend i REALLY SUGGEST clearing your calender for Sunday, October 9th. This is the date for the PCA Charity Autocross. All proceeds go to support the Hope Shelter in Plano, which is a home and safe haven for victims of Domestic Abuse.
ALSO, this is always the funnest course of the year. It will be at Texas Motor Speedway on the bus lot. This means it is a REALLY BIG autocross course, with higher speeds, and a great surface. TMS is also not very far for most of us.
Ok thats all

You don't need your helmet, as they have ones you can use for free. All you have to pay for is the head sock which is $3 (it is a new one, as i'm pretty sure they don't re-use them between different people, HA!)
Other than that bring money for lunch, or pack your own.
Make sure to wear something comfortable, and some good shoes. Dazy, No 6" Heels... sorry.
Recommendations:
Empty out your car the night before. You don't want anything loose flying around and hitting you in the face while driving.
If you have a spare tire, bring it... and we can store it at the race in the morning while we are all prepping our cars.
If you have the Fix-A-Flat kit, as the air pump on that is really good, make sure to bring it. Your going to want to adjust your tire pressure in the morning at the track. If you need a pressure gauge, you can use mine.
Bring suntan lotion, sunglasses, and a big hat (possibly a sombrero).
That is pretty much all you need. Try to get to the track before 8am. This will give you enough time to prep your car, register, and walk the course before 9am.
OH ALSO... haha, i almost forgot. Make sure to register online first...

Make sure you have the correct event selected at the top of the form.

The race went really well. I learned alot, and realized this is now a whole new car. I need to get used to handling of the boost without DSC/TCS... which was not very easy to do.
I spent my morning runs getting used to the course (which was huge), and was waiting to let loose during the last 4 runs of the afternoon. Unfortunately it rained during lunch, so that plan went to waste. The rain made the course wet and hence a great drift event. HA! Good times.
I had a great time, and hope to see some of you at the next event. :D

Yeah, this was mineral wells... but your right about TMS.
I actually like the surface. It's slick but really fun. My first autocross ever, was @ TMS... in the rain. HAHAH, on my first turn I took out about 8 cones. Good times.
