Hey Jenkins, can you get Amber to tell the story about the woman who wanted birthday money from Nyt-Owl? That was funny!! :D

oh you mean the larger size black wowan dressed in very tight clothing that would not leave him alone. It was her 21st birthday and she had money hanging on her dress. She kept asking him to give her money and he kept dancing. I went over to them to get him to leave with us since i had two other slightly intoxicated males to escort back to the hotel also. I explained to her that we were a group and she stated back to me, with her not so full mouth of teeth, that he had to give her money for her birthday before she would let him go. he gave her money ( not sure how much, and no telling as intoxicated he seemed to be) then screamed "Monkey" and then he reluctantly exited the bar.

This was the first time I was able to get Ms. Scalli out and I have to tell you guys that she told me that she understands now why I like hanging out with you guys. :D With the age gap between me and all of you guys she could not understand why this would really work. I told her that you guys were just respectful to old folks Once she got over the panic of being overwhelmed by having to meet so many people she really liked you guys alot. I knew she would but like I told Nyt-Owl and a few others when I talked about bringing her out to a Tuesday night meet that she is the complete polar opposite of me. I never meet a stranger and I am the worst flirt to ever roam the earth
But she really is a sweetie and pretty well preserved for 42 years old too :D
So thanks for being yourselves. She even thought Nyt-Owl was great! And I have to admit he was one happy mofro and his usual humorous self.
She still laughs about him talking about pissiong off the balcony

Aaaawwww......thanks, Scalli! I'm glad I was missed at least a little even though I wasn't there very long. You guys were all great and I would definitely make the trip again in a heart beat.

man this is one messed up thread, did you guys just totally abandon all the Austin people or what? there's no mention of them anywhere (except for 1 person and there was defintely more than 1 Austin person at Oasis) and I thought the whole idea was to hook up with us locals and do stuff etc. guess I got the wrong idea or something

Everybody I talked to I told we planned on hitting 6th Street on Saturday night. I know it was covered on the threads that we were going to party there. Maybe it was just me but I felt that anybody that wanted to go would have got on the list of numbers to call to get hooked up on when we were leaving and all. I did not stay at the hotel but I made sure that they knew to call me.
I got the call and met them there. This was new to all of us and next time we can fine tune some things now that we know a little more. I certainly am the type that loves hanging with the more the merrier ya know?
The Austinites were great and I love the town :D

thanks for the pm jackie, whatever the case there's nothing I can do to change what happened so maybe next time things will work out a little better, and as forest gump would say, "that's all I have to say about that"

I'll be honest, I missed the mall and was late to the Oasis so I wasn't completely sure who all was who. I didn't even know the Austin troops were there until Jenkins' wife said that the entire deck was our crowd! Slowly, everyone began to dissipate and I figured that those who hung around were going to go out with the rest of us to Vans and then 6th street. I don't think we intentionally tried to not hang out with anyone, so I apologize for everyone if it came off that way. We think ya'll are a great bunch! Heck, why else would we be talking about another trip? :D Slim's ready to go again this weekend!!!

One of the problem was we weren't able to sit in the same area. The other was we all sat in within our own clicks - Dallas group, Austin group, and the Killeen group. What was annoying was after lunch, the Dallas group disappeared. We couldn't find anyone to catch up to. If you didn't know, the entire party came up a bit over $50 short. Some people didn't pay the gratuity. Adrian and Randall was kind enough to split the difference just to get out of there. We got stuck with the bill.

By the time everything was sortd out, the Dallas group had disappeared. That left the Austin and Killeen group not knowing what's the entire plan. We knew that you guys were going to Vans later on, but just don't know what time. We decided to take a drive down Lime Creek. By the time we showed up at Vans, everyone had left. We were maybe 5 minutes late according to people that were there. After that we had no clue of the plans. There were no numbers to call.

I think what disappointed us was we thought this was a get-together, a time to meet people from different areas and have fun. It ended up with something totally different. Well that's my rant for this thread.

Sorry we didn't get to hang out like we wanted to. It probably would have helped to all sit together at Oasis so we could chat some more. Next time in our plans we will have to see if we can make reservations where we eat. (Just so you know our ticket was coverd cause I paid our bill) Also the plans (https://www.rx8club.com/gulf-rx-8-forum-32/tx-rx-meet-austin-april-23-a-55328/) said we were meeting at Vans at 4:30 from what I remember. I appologized that we missed you. I had a great time meeting everyone at the mall and can't wait till next year. Should have any kinks straightened out by then :D

Next time we can print up extra copies of the itenerary and pass them out at the first place we meet. In this case it would have been the mall. Have it include contact numbers of point people, etc.
As far as any bill being shorted I sat with with my wife, Jackie and Danny, and Blake and the others at their table were connected. I saw the money trading hands with the waiter and there was no problems. I am not sure which table(s) had the problems but we left after our bill was paid.

car looks sweet dazy, good to see somehing lame turn into something cool. I'm hoping for the same when I get mine back good pics too, we'll get this mess straightened out next time, first time gigs like this are always a pain as we all know the old saying goes "you can't please everybody" I will just accept that perhaps as large as our group was, and the fact that this was the first time attempting something like this, maybe people wires got crossed. Not to stir up anything, but I wa still sitting at one of the tables along with the rest of us who didn't go check out the parking lot hoopla when we saw a bunch of 8's driving by that huge **** house at the bottom of the hill, I thought that maybe you guys were cruising or checking out the area or something but then next thing you know we're leaving and there's nobody to be found, somehow, someway, the bill got screwed up. It was all on one ticket and we ended up like 50-something bucks short. Don't ask me how that happened, I don't know. But we got stuck paying the rest of it. i'm not saying that every single person that bailed didn't pay or anything crazy like that, I can verify that at least 2-3 people that had left did pay, with us sitting at different tables I have no idea how that got handled for everyone else and since it's a done deal there's no sense in debating it any further. Every weekend/gathering/car show has it's good parts and it's sucky parts, that part sucked, but there was plenty of stuff to be positive about. It was a beautiful day, we all did get to meet each other and put names to faces, obvioulsy whoever did get to make Saturday night had an awesome time. I got to hang out with people I only see once a month for an entire day which was cool. i only hope I can repay the favor of being taxi'd around by them someday. So anyway, sure there was some confusion, some aggravation here and there, but it still was a pretty decent weekend and now we can learn from all of this and make the next event even better. Hopefully we'll have even more people and we can show up places and just take over

Our bill was about $76 if I recall correctly, and we had that much in cash before me and (don't even think I'll remember his name) the Corona spokesman ( ) paid on our credit card. I'm pretty sure our waiter got a $25+ tip. That's why I double checked with everyone to see if they needed change.

And as far as what happened to me Saturday night, I got working on my car and didn't get done till 10:30 or so, and then I was waiting on a phone call from someone that never came, so I didn't bother calling Jackie.

canaryrx8, are you the one that came back up to Van's with Larry after everyone else left?

Blake

BTW, someone needs to post a pic of all the people and list their names and screen names on here. All I know are Jackie, Scalli, Klar, garland (Is it Cassandra?) and Parmer8.
