wow. I'm sorry you guys got stuck with extra unpaid stuff. We were sitting with the Scalli's, Irish, weininaustin, and infinitebass. We had the server do the bill by table so it was easier for us to figure out (he wouldn't split it any further than that)

After that, we went to check out the car-press junket stuff across the street, and everyone kinda disappeared after that except our group.

Sorry you guys felt left out. I even had a couple of extra copies of the itenerary and phone list.

dang, come to think of it we didn't even get to check out the car press thing, although we did see the GT drive by about a million times while we were eating, I was thinking "wft, is this dude trying to pick up people or what? must suck to have all that money and no friends lol" When we left I noticed they had an Opel over there, would have loved to have gotten a closer look as I haven't seen one of those (much less hardly any french cars) since living in Belgium as a kid. I'm not sweating the tab too much, obviously it was more than I expected to spend that day, but it wasn't earth shattering and I'll get that money back in another way someday

I think I was the only DFW person to sit with the Austin peeps. My real name is Tiffany and I was sitting at Klar's table. I have dark hair (pulled back in a ponytail that day I think), and I was wearing a black "welcome to the darkside" RX8web t-shirt. Does that help?

Like they say...This thread is useless without pics. Someone needs to post pics with names. Also, what was up with the Audiobahn truck? Who's truck is that? Hope they didn't take the twisties back home.

That truck belonged to Richard, a good friend of Jenkins-Crew.

all right canary, it's always good to get a car back

Parmer8 - yeah that's my best friends truck. He works for Audiobahn as their show support specialist. He transports vehicles all over the U.S. and sets up and run the booths at all the big dealer shows.

I think it's time for one of you guys to post about Texas Heatwave if this is an open to the public event and others may want to attend. I have no idea what it is and am curious as to where it is being held.

oh man is it a public event ,over 1,000 custom vehciles of all types in attendance, vendors, mad partying, it'a 3 day event where all things custom storm Austin and take over. I used to work the show as the DJ for about 6 years, and I was a judge for 2 years before that. Back when clubs still hosted such events, I was a member of Custom Miniz which was the host club at one point, the guy who promotes it is David "David Mac" Mcdonald, I've known homedude for years and he's an ok guy. The website for the show is www.texasheatwaveshow.com, it's a bit pricey to attend/participate, but then again it's almost like an outdoor Texas Sema when that thing is happening as lots of folks debut rides there and lotsa' vendors are there with the latest stuff etc.. The only down side is the heat, it is held at Travis County Expo Center, and it gets hotter than crap out there.

Talking Dfw Visit

I enjoyed the visit from DFW and hope it happens again, but some loose ends need to be addressed if it is to be done as a joint event again without delays, splitting up or other choas for the host; we wouldn't want to come to DFW & have this happen to you. Nothing personal; just the way it went part of the visit.
*We followed YOUR SCHEDULE-"SE corner, no later than 12:00 noon for pictures & depart at 12:15pm for the Oasis". Some of us were there at 11:30am to not hold you up, but had to wake some of you up who "went to breakfast" or "drove around the mall looking for the group for 30 mins....."
*We did have RESERVATIONS; Golf from Austin went early & waited 1+ hour past the estimated arrival time @ Oasis to get it and hold it.
*We got one check for 40 odd people w/18% GRATUITY ADDED AS A CONDITION for accomodating a large group reservation. Two tables (30+-) left BEFORE the bill was settled; THINKING you have paid & LEAVING before final tally is not paying the bill.
*Austin & Killeen people at the third table did not "disappear" first but had to stay long after to go over & over the bill for $50. shortage (about $1.25 short for each of 40 people total); there were no DFW 8's @ The Oasis by then. What you do for Randall (who's ride deserted him), Adrien and others who covered over/above their amt.+18% will speak volumes; $50./30 people=$1.66ea. *PM to CANARYRX8.
*Lime Creek run/back was only 90 mins, but from delay @ Oasis, we missed gathering @ Van's by just 5 mins; Sunday's sched. for driving 1431, or not, was a mystery.
*Was Austin really invited or just a support for your visit? Next time, please be clear; it won't hurt our feelings either way. LD.

I just want to say that I had a good time. But, If you guys came to DFW we would have supported you made sure everything was ok. I was there for everything except the mall pics and I don't even know who you are. But, I'm not trying to point any fingers here. As far as plans go, when you have 10+ cars and around 20 people, some one is going to be behind or have problems with their vehicle. Patience. And last, I have heard about this "extra money" someone got stuck paying. Who's table left it? Give me an address and I'll mail my Freaking $1.66 if it will end this crap. Overall, I enjoyed it.

I want to appologize for everything that happened that didn't go as planned. I think most everyone made an effort and I thank everyone that did. It made the trip very fun. We didn't get alot of input from Austin peeps in time before the trip, so some the plans were on the fly(6th street, Sunday twisties,...). I am sorry you got stuck with some other bill but I think the Oasis ripped you off. I know for a fact my whole table was paid for and that the waiter got a $20 tip, I paid it! Our bill was over $100. So it sounds like they screwed ya which really sucks. I know that the next time a trip is scheduled, things will go much better. Maybe we can plan a little more in advance to make sure all the details are worked out and even get numbers and call before the trip.

CHEERS!!!!

Just so you know, I do have a paypal account :D (hahaha) just for the record, my car was running fine, it was my ride that left. (I was riding with Klar pre-Oasis). Aaron (Klar) has apologized and it's no big whoop, sure it was an inconvenience at the time but it's cool as he was man enough to say he was sorry. I think Topdown was trying to state the facts about what happened and the frustration we all felt about the situation and I agree with what he posted, but I also know there's nothing that can be done to change what happened and we can all learn from it for next time. Maybe it's annoying to the other parties to keep hearing about it, but think about how you would feel if you were in the shoes of the people that had to foot the bill, had to find another ride, were looking forward to driving/hanging with a bunch of other 7/8 owners only to have it all blow up in their face. oh and on a more positive note, I got my car back today!! dang what a difference it makes to be back in your own ride

Congrats on the car Canary! I know you're happy to have her back and she'll make you feel all better.

Can we get off this soapbox and tell some GOOD stories about the trip? What happened has happened and we cannot go back to change it and dwelling on it doesn't make it any better. If it's about $1.66, I'll send the money as well, but this was the first time a trip of this nature was organized and we cannot expect everything to run without problems or delays. Let's all take this as a lesson learned and next time the trip will be even better!
