Thumbs down Premier Mazda - Georgetown, TX

This post will prob get moved, just going to vent a little bit about a bad expierence and see ifsomeone agrees with me that i got crappy service. I've had my name in the hat for a long time about purchasing an Rx-8, no i didnt leave a deposit, but if you are in the austin area you know that there are plenty of Rx-8's on the lot that arent pre-sold, and for you pre-order guys that are still waiting on *your* car, i feel for ya... trust me.... so now to the point. I get a phone call from the salesman i've been talking to, he says someone ordered a winning blue with a sport pack and they backed out on the car and it is now available. So i tell him to hold it for me and i will rush up there. Well it's an hour away for me ... i get there and i have to wait almost anothe rhour for that salesman to become available since he was working a deal with another customer on a different car. Finally he comes up and asks a few questions about my trade-in.. While he's taking information about my trade in, someone goes up to him and tells him the winning blue was just sold. So he comes and tells me that. I was very upset that i drove an hour and waited an hour for my car to be sold in front of my eyes. He says someone just got back from a testdrive (the demo) and liked it and wanted the blue one and he was really sorry, but they are in business to sell cars. I told the main manager of the joint my story, he basically said the same thing... and went on to say if you didnt put down a deposit, then you dont count. We are in the business to sell cars and without a deposit, i cant promise you anything. I said what about the guy that just took the demo out and decided he wanted my blue one? he said that wasnt the story.... a guy walked in this morning couldnt choose between the blue or the red one, gave a $500 deposit and said hold both cars till i come back later this evening with my wife and then i'll decide... and of course he took my blue one.... wait a minute, i thought he pressed that he was in the business to move cars? so now anyone can come in and hold *2* cars till later on in the evening just because he cant decide which car he wants???

He told me he would notify me when another blue one comes in and he would treat me right... he assured me he would "make it happen" were his words.... well a touring pkg came in. the price like everyone knows was $29,900. he offered me an amount for my trade that was $500 less than another dealership without even haggling! He said it was rock bottom and he couldnt go any further. so basically he lost a sale over $500. I thought he would make it right ?? I wouldn't send my mother-in-law to premier... They will never earn my business.

You need to call Roger Beasley North tomorrow and ask for Jim Bagin. He is now the majority owner of the dealership and an all-around great guy. Tell him your story (might need to leave him a message about getting screwed at Premeire) and tell him that Tom Solimine said you would treat him right. Jim and I go way back and I've sent him dozens of very satisfied customers in the past.

Sounds like you live south. Beasley South is also partially owned by Jim and he'd probably rather sell you a car from that dealership anyway. If you can't get him (he's often out of town) then ask for Mike Moran the inventory manager and ask him what is coming in that is not presold. If something peeks your interest, then ask for Bill Hileman to handle the sale and again, drop my name.

If you need to get the best price for your trade, ask for Eldon Huey, the used car manager. Don't go through the sales staff.

I have no affiliation with this dealership....just many years of exceptional service. Good Luck!

I feel for you MarkRx. Yes, sadly it wasn't the best experience... Good luck on your next trip to "Roger Beasley" where TomsterRX8 told you to go.

Hey, it's great to have so many friends looking out for "our" best interests!

I'm not sure if the salesman was aware that someone else was also looking at the winning blue RX-8, ... would it have made any difference if he told you that there was ... would you still have made the drive up in the hour?

My only advice (from past experience in buying cars) is to agree on a price for the RX-8 with the color and options you want (before you talk trade-in) and get it in writing from the dealership-before you hand over any money. If they won't do that, walk out and find a place that will!

If there's a lot of cars available (with the color and options) that you have an eye on, there's no need to put any money down in advance - unless you need to order it, because the dealer doesn't have it in their inventory. Than $100 is fine as long as it's a "refundable" deposit. Sadly, handing money over to them does help prove that you plan on doing business with them.

As for me, I plan on waiting a couple of years and get my RX-8 for a little over dealer invoice
