I'd be willing to, but my roommate's family is also from Houston and they may be staying with us as soon as Thursday night.

The news this morning said 80% chance of rain, but it wouldn't start until Sat night into Sun morning. How does this effect things? A high of 87 with clouds and hopefully a small breeze - sounds like GREAT BBQ weather to me!!

In all seriousness, I am keeping an eye on the weather and as of this post, the BBQ is still on rain or shine......

I trust Dazy on this one. She seems to be updating us with weather reports every few hours.

Dallas is really far inland so i think we should be ok. MOST of the times these hurricanes die down as soon as they hit land.

Thanks BigOLundh. And I agree, if you'll be here on Thursday definitely come meet up with us. I'm driving from FW and going through Arlington so we can caravan together if you'd like (that way you don't have to mess with directions and maps).

Also - those who are driving up from Houston, a member here, Speedweasel, may be in Houston on business and was looking to ride up with a member to enjoy the BBQ with us. Please contact him for more details and/or if you're able to accomodate.

And I just checked the weather again, it's forecasted to be in DFW at 7am Sunday morning. Like BigOLundh said, we're pretty far inland so IMO if we get anything, it'll be a little wind and rain, nothing major.

I've met Speedweasel (at the Dragon!) and he's a really cool guy. AWESOME that he's gonna try to make our BBQ!

Party's on, guys & gals! Those of you who make it out will have a GREAT time regardless of the weather. :D

I'm a little confused by the weather reports I'm seeing in Dallas, some seem to think there will be some rain on Saturday, some are projecting wind as well. what are you guys up there hearing?

Dallas/FW weather:
From what I'm seeing, it'll be rainy Saturday evening, and Sunday. Nothing to write home about, other than planning extra time for any driving home people might need to be doing.

The reports in general here are saying rain late Saturday to Sunday morning and into the day...I kind of see it described as regular rain like we wouldn't even know it was because of a hurricane, not anything out of the ordinary for this time of year.

BTW - if you are driving 45 North to Dallas and you haven't left yet I strongly suggest getting a move on. Traffic on Friday headed 45 North is going to be a nightmare.

You can also take 35 or 281. Neither one are the quickest way, but you'll avoid the 45 traffic.

Small change in plans guys - the Pow Wow is cancelled. Jess's family (dad, grandma and two sisters) are coming up and staying with us while Rita does her damage.

I have a small problem at the moment. I am heading up to the BBQ from Houston with rotarygod and brillo. It seems that most likely we will be heading out tommorow morning unless there is a drastic change in direction of the hurricane. I dont want to impose on anyone but I dont have a place to stay for thursday/friday night if the case is we are driving up tommorow. Is there anyone who I could stay with for those nihgt? I have an inflatable matress!

Question! What are the plans for Friday night? Are you meeting somewhere before going to the drag strip? I'm already in Dallas, but I'm going to Waco tomorrow night to see my son play football, so meeting up tomorrow night is out. Please let me know what everyone is doing, would like to meet up incase the weather turns bad on Sat morning. Thanks!

Pow-Wow UPDATE: Sorry for the mixed signals everyone but the Pow-Wow may be on. AForce8 and I are talking and if everything works out, we'll have the Pow-Wow at the sponsored hotel in Arlington (info on first page). I really want to have this, even if it's just a sanity check for myself. My goal is to get everyone from the area on the same page so we're not going nuts on Saturday. I'll talk to everyone tonight at BJ's and then again *hopefully* tomorrow at the hotel.

I'll keep everyone posted.

OK it's just after 5 pm and am about to leave. I know I can get to Tomball relatively quickly and I know that once I pass Magnolia I'll be OK. They are both about 15 miles apart though and the average time between them is 3 hours. Lets hope everyone doesn't know the back podunk roads like I do. Here goes everything. Hopefully I'll see you guys in Dallas!
