"ROAD TRIP" to Austin, TX. Area:

The beginnings of this were already started in another thread but the first couple pages probably would have detoured many people so I am starting this one.

There is going to be a Road trip down to Austin the weekend of April 22nd. Everyone is invited to come, even if other cities want to have their own meet locally and meet us there. (Austin people could really help us with a meet spot and activities while we are down there.)

The DFW area is meeting around 6 p.m. "CONFIRMED" off 35W south of 820S at The Rig steakhouse for dinner on Friday, then head down to Hillsboro to meet up with some people from Dallas and other locations at 8:30. Then we will head down to the hotel in Austin and should arrive around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, we are still working out the details but I know 6th street Sat. night and a RX meet in the afternoon is on there. Then we drive back on Sunday and take the back roads for a fun “Sunday Drive”.

"THE RIG" INFO: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...&page=15&pp=15
Post #223

Dallas drivers meet at BJ's in Addison for dinner at 6pm before we head out to Hillsboro. We will leave BJ's at 7:00 PM to make it to Hillsboro at 8:30 PM.

Schedule:
Friday night: Settle into hotel.
Saturday: RX Meets:

For anyone who wants to meet for lunch:

We will meet at the Barton Creek Mall parking lot facing the Downtown Austin Skyline at 12pm Saturday. From there, we will head to the Oasis via 360 to 2222 to 620.

The parking lot is the most east lot opposite the mall with a grand view of downtown. We can line up the cars for a nice picture. If you are one of the first to arrive, back your car up so we can all line up with our cars facing west for a nice pic.

Map of Barton Creek Mall. If you are having difficulty locating the lot, circle the mall until you see us and the skyline.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.ad...untry=us&zoom=7

Please arrive no later than 12pm as we will be taking pictures and leave promptly at 12:15pm.

Lunch at the Oasis at 1 p.m.
http://www.oasis-austin.com/

Saturday after lunch we will meet with all RXers at the VANS parking lot.
8701 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78758 (512) 834-0200
Meet is at 4:30 PM
Here's a map for anyone that is not going to lunch.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.ad...untry=us&zoom=5

Keep in mind that VANS is still open for business at that time, so we need to make sure we park towards the back of the lot away from the store where we are not disturbing their flow of business.

Saturday Night: 6th Street.
Sunday: Backroad drive home. (Twisties!)
We will have maps for those who want to go.

Where we are staying while in Austin:
Omni Austin Hotel - Downtown
700 San Jacinto at 8th Street
Austin, Texas 78701
Phone: (512) 476-3700
(We have 5 executive Suites and 2 deluxe rooms reserved)

I'm sure I'll still be in Dallas then and if you need someone who knows Austin, that's me. So, count me in and I can help with planning if need be. Let me know.

That's awesome we can use all the help we can get, I don't think most of us know Austin too well. Anything you can contribute would definately help.

Just let me know what you'd like me to do or research and I'll take care of it. Or if you'd like to get together sometime to plan, then we can do that as well. I go back to Austin every weekend for now until I can get myself situated here. My week nights are basically free, since I know no one and have no life, but I work and live off Preston and George Bush and I see you are in FW.

I have stayed at a hotel within walking distance of 6th street during Mardi Gras, but I will have to find out what the name of it was. They had a happy hour with free drinks on Friday night, and a continental breakfast (where the guy would cook anything that you wanted) the next morning. Not sure how much it cost though...we had something like 12 ppl in a suite with one king size bed and a living room.

I thought about that too Aggietiff, but the TXRXs group has something planned for every weekend but the weekend we'll be there... Maybe they'll be willing to change their schedule for us?

If you can get the name of that motel that sounds great.

Or if there were a total of 12 girls in the same room then invite them too! that would be even greater!!!
Ok, I know, I'm sounding like a pig again but i'm just saying what others are thinking.

I'll be seeing the Austin group on Saturday and will talk to them about it. I can be the contact person between the 2 groups if you'd like. We're pretty flexible about the events. I don't think it would be a bad idea to get the RX7club guys interested in it since not all of them are doing much with the texasrxers. Anyone want to post out on that site?

I have a username for the 7 site, but I can't post it today, since I'm trying to concentrate on work, I'll do it when I get back to Austin.

I was talking to some people at the Improv in Addison tonight that where here from Austin. They said there was a La Quinta Inn right there in the 6th district. I am staying on track. I have been having the worst luck with ladies lately. I keep calling them all dude. It would really help if you all had girly nicknames like dazygirl, lazygirl, or crazygirl.... ANYTHING with the word "girl" in it would help me out. Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all, guys/girls in Austin.

There's a thread going on the 7 site already and all I need to do is just keep those guys aware of our plans. As soon as I have additional information, I will share it with them. I've let them know that I'm helping on the planning front.

Oh wow, you guys snuck another thread in on me. I had posted a thread on the 7 forum and Weininaustin was posting over there. I couldn't figure out why she was posting that she was helping plan and I had not seen her post on the first thread But now it is all clear to me.
In all fairness to N-O at least where the RX7Club members are involved and my Vintagerotary forum girls make up less than one percent of the membership. But the ones that are are very cool and usually know there way around a car as good as *most* the guys there. Most of the guys are not writing in depth tech articles either.
Some of the lady members do not want to point their gender out at least in one case I know of.

Here is a young lady on my VintageRotary Forums that lives in New Zealand and what she built. It is running a 12a bridgeport :D And check out her birthday cake
The ladies I know in the rotary world (present ladies included) can hang with the best of us and out-do their share as well
