I'm off on Friday so I'll do some driving around town in the ugly Explorer and see if I can convince the dealerships to mail them out. Maybe I'll wear a short skirt and a low-cut shirt... :D J/K. I can't think of any reasons why they wouldn't since they're not releasing the list of names to me. I think my biggest hurdle will be the fact that I have all of these flyers and no 8! --LOL

Ok, got my membership in the mail yesterday. and made reservations today. The hotel in Austin is only allowing the 50% off coupon to be used for 1day unless you want to stay Sunday as well. So the total that I got was about $418 for both night with taxes included for a deluxe room with two double beds.

How many people have signed up for memberships? Do you think we would have enough rooms if each person who receives one could book one night so a coupon could be always be used?

I got my membership in the mail today and I haven't read everything that came in the envelope, but the coupon reads like it's valid for a "weekend," meaning a Fri and Sat night. I'll look into it more next week.

Got mine today. Looks like we can't call this a group thing when we reserve. Five of us will need to take our certs and reserve one of the suites and then the rest of the peeps can pay them back I guess. What does everyone think about that?

Ok, I just got through calling the hotel directly at 512-476-3700 and first I spoke with Robin in reservations. It turns out that they are charging me something like $118 for Friday night and $249 for Saturday night. I again asked her about the 50% off coupon that reads (Friday & Saturday night only) She said that was based on availability. I told her well since I already have both nights reserved, that means they are available. On top of that, I told her that booking the room on line, the room was only $209 without a membership. She said they couldn't honor the discount of booking on-line since I had to call in to use the coupon. I was like, okay let me understand this, I join your Select Guest membership, I'm suppose to get a discounted rate, but non-members reserving their rooms on line get a better per night rate? I then asked to talk to a manager. Craig is his name. He basically told me that since they don't have a lot of rooms left over for Saturday night that haven't already been reserved, we can't use the coupon for Saturday night, just Friday night. I think that this is a load of horse ****! I'm gonna look for another room somewhere else. I was told that I have until Friday the 22nd at noon to cancel without any charges.

Deluxe room with two double beds, their cheapest room that was listed online unless you had a corporate rate or AAA.

I've looked into other Hotels that are either on 6th street or near 6th street. I've run across two so far.
Extended Stay America 512-457-9994
2 double beds $134.99 night
http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/

Driskill Hotel
2 queen beds $260 night
http://www.driskillhotel.com/

Looking at the rates that you get with AAA, makes me wish I would have joined AAA instead. All the information I gave was per the conversation with two different reservationists and the manager. I will say this one more time. Per the manager of the hotel, they are not allowing the certificates to be used for Saturday night, only for Friday night. I've included the direct number to the hotel if you want to call. They may tell you something different. The $367 is before taxes after taxes it comes to about $418 for the weekend as per the quote that I got from the person in reservations. I believe the tax rate for hotel rooms to be about 15%.

Hey Chris... I think you mean Jackie. She was the one who originally got the info for the Omni.

I just got off the phone w/Omni. $79.50 for Friday night (using coupon) $209 for Saturday (this is the corporate raqte). Per our conversation, we can't use the coupon b/c the coupon is based on a weekend rate and the availability is filling up quickly for Sat (which is why she gave me the corporate rate). The total for the weekend is roughly $321.50. Split 4 ways is
$80.38. I don't know about you guys, but I didn't want to spend that much. Are we sure there's nothing in the same vicinity but cheaper?

Question: Would we be willing to stay a little further from 6th Street if it meant cheaper rates? Yes, we would have to pay for cabs, but would the cab fare be large enough to make up the difference we'd be saving? Thoughts?
