There are 5 two bedroom suites reserved. They either have a king and queen or 2 queens in each room.

The following is who I have appointed to a room. We can fit 5 - 6 people in each room. This is not the final list, we may shuffle people around to maximize space, minimize cost.

Room 1
Danny
Scott
Jackie (has queen air mattress)
Dazy
Andrea
??

Room 2
Chris (has 2 twin areo beds)
Amber + Baby
Mr. Scalli
Ms. Scalli
??
??

Please let me know which room you want to be in above, or if you would like to start your own room. PM with the info.

Ok, I have a question. Jackie, have you been able to confirm if you'll be able to use the certificate for either or both nights? If the Omni will honor the cert. for just Friday then the total for one room for the weekend will be about $469.00 + tax. If they don't honor any certs and you're getting charged the full rate then we are looking at $618.00 + tax for the weekend. I think a lot of us would be more confortable if we went into this knowing the exact price after being confirmed with the hotel. Putting 5 people per room at $469 for the weekend would be $94 per person, at $618 it would be $124 per person.
If we stay at the Doubletree Guest Suites which is like 9 blocks away, it would only run $149.00 per night for a suite with two queen beds. That would total $298 for the weekend which breaks down $74.50 per person with 4 people per room. If we went 5 people per room it would then only be $59.60 per person for the weekend. According to their website, they offer underground parking in their garage for $12 and also have valet service.
I am just tossing this out there because basically this is just a place to sleep, shower, and meetup before heading out.
I am a little weary of the Omni not because of location, but because of my dealings with them and to find out that they quoted Dazy a different price when we each asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with a guy manager and she called a little while later and got a female manager with a better rate. The Omni has two different locations, one in downtown Austin and one in South Austin. The rates at the one in downtown are about double the one in South Austin. I just don't want to get down there and either spend more money than I planned to or have to find a place at the last minute. I guess, I would feel alot better knowing exact prices.

All - Sorry for the delay in getting a response back to you. I do not have access at home and have very limited time to be on here during business hours as you all could imagine keeping my job is critical.

I was able to contact Omni to see if we could use our certs and the verdict is that they are only valid on the Deluxe rooms and not on the Suites which we have 5 of those reserved.

What I need to know is who will be staying at the Omni. I made these reservations a month ago after most agreed to stay here. If this hotel does not agree with your budget, I would suggest you call around and locate one that will and make that reservation ASAP as the availability is scarce by this time.

Again, if you plan to stay at the Omni, please let me know so I can add your name to a room. I believe final commitment by next Friday is reasonable. If you can't commit your name to a room by Friday, let me know your circumstances and we can squeeze you in as a tentative 6th/7th person in a room.

The Hilton on 4th street just called me and said that they do not have any rooms available that weekend as there is a volleyball tourney in town and they are the hotel of choice.

I've exhausted my connections.

Talking Dallas RX visit 4/22-24: Road Trips w/TexasRxs Car Club.

To JACKIE and visitors: Drivers Wanted!!
For those who wish to drive the hill country as a group under our normal road rules (license, inspection, insur., no DUI, register/sign waiver, etc.-Jackie knows how we do it) instead of visiting PTP, I would be glad to schedule the following with our gathering facillities sponsors with JACKIE. Discuss it and decide which day & how many drivers where Jackie can attend to help lead the run. In consideration of our sponsor relationships, please no trash, thrash, drugs, alchohol, burnouts, DUI, ect. on their property. Choices in order of best roads*:

1.)Meet SAT. 4/23 @ 10:00am-12:00noon @ Carrabba's/Outback lot 183N @ Duval Rd; leave 10:30am OR eat lunch at one of these before leaving for back roads to the WEST as far as Fredericksburg; back by 5:00-6:00pm or linger there.
-OR-
*2.)Meet SUN. 4/24 @ 10:00am-12:00noon @ Carrabba's/Outback; leave 10:30am or eat lunch there first before leaving for a NORTHWESTERN back road loop ending in Salado before heading to Dallas.

Jackie, notify asap. Larry D., Membership/Marketing. (larrysdavidson@msn.com)

We did this back of July 2001....it was originally Ryker's idea up in Dallas and we coordinated and I was the organizer for Austin. The idea, in my mind, was to start an annual rotary event to rival what California had going with Sevenstock.

For our first year it was a very, very successful event. We had over 50 rotaries show, some from as far as Arkansas! Every generation, including a bitchin' RX-2 and a few three-rotor FDs. We had a few local sponsors give away lots of goodies (hats, t-shirts, etc), had a raffle for free dynos and other goods, and free Rudy's BBQ for all paid for by the sponsors. We even made rotor shaped cookies!

We were a little dampened in the morning by rain and had to change the meeting place last minute from a park to a parking lot. We met and set out for a crusie through the twisties and a lap around Lake Travis. Everyone was grinning ear to ear at the site of 50 RX's taking over the highways. At one point, as the cruise started to turn into a race on the gentle hills of 71, we all passed a state troooper at 100 mph....he flashed his brites but as soon as he saw what he was up against he just watched us fly by! We met back for free Rudys BBQ and talked shop, everyone was pleased.

We did it again a second year but it wasn't as big and there were a few organizational issues, as well as legal (we had a rollover on Lime Creek) to be ironed out. For this reason I chose not to organize any more events and that was the end of Sevens Across Texas.

But, if y'all really wanted to, we could easily pick up where Sevenstock left off. We could have 200+ cars cruising the hill country easily. It takes a lot of planning and detailed thinking though, to pull it off successfully. Sponsors have to be pleased with what you give them if they are going to give money. It's not hard, just some work.

Anyways I'm excited that y'all are coming to the lovely city of Austin (I call it Awesome, Texas!). I am going to try and get together with y'all at some point. Hopefully the local guys can get together too and show y'all a good time. There is plenty of good time to go around in Austin for sure.

Check out some comments on the first Sevens Across Texas rally...I think the first ten or so posts start out with "That was SO MUCH FUN!"

Right on!

Sorry Larry, I'm not doing any drives that weekend. I can only handle the drive to and from Austin.

I need to spend some time at my house that weekend, as well as do all that we have planned so far.

Went to Freeman and Hiley today to pass out the flyers (late I know, but I've been busy). I posted them at Freemand and they agreed to mail them to RX8 purchasers. The sales man mentioned that the dealership had been the top selling RX8 location one month (woo-hoo). A Hiley brother likes the idea but he has to check w/the other Hiley brother before mailing out the flyers. He'll let me know for sure by Monday. I went ahead and posted some there anyway.

Ok, got another Omni update. Called to confirm my reservations and being the smooth talker I am, Nyt-Owl and I each have a deluxe room reserved for Fri and Sat for a total of $280 + tax for the weekend. That makes it about $80 for the weekend. Andrea and I will stay in one room, and Nyt-Owl and ALWAZL8 will stay in the other. That means we have space for 4 people. Any takers?

That works for us. I think Ambers friend from work "Maybe babysitter" and boyfriend are coming and could take the other 2 spots.

Cool. I was looking through the list of attendees and I'm a little concerned that some of those who are coming from out of town don't have their names on any room list. Is everyone taken care of?
