RX-Club of Houston December Meeting - benefitting Ronald McDonald House 12/4/07
Greetings club,
It's that time of year again, you know when it's supposed to get a little chilly and everyone is supposed to think of Season's Greetings and Peace on Earth.... but that's another story.
When: Tuesday, December 4th 2007
Where: Freebird's Burritos (59 and Greenbriar)
What: RX-Club of Houston Meeting and Toy Drive
As most of you know we always get together in December with "our" toys to donate toys and other items for children in need. This year we want to reach for a new goal and blow our previous efforts out of the water.
I challenge each member (there are over 300 of you out there!) to make a special effort to come out to the December meeting and bring at least 1 toy (multiples are encouraged) for the children of the Ronald McDonald House.
I have contacted a local news media regarding coverage, however I need commitments from 50 or more members to make that happen. C'mon people let's show Houston what the guys with the smallest engines and biggest hearts can do!
Since opening its doors in 1981, Ronald McDonald House has offered a home away from home to the families of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses at Texas Medical Center institutions. Each year, thousands of children are treated in Houston for serious illnesses. Often, they travel long distances for treatment and the families’ anxiety over the child’s illness is compounded by lengthy hospital stays, months of outpatient treatment, and the expense of being away from home. Whole families may spend their days and nights in hospital lounges or hotels, removed from relatives and friends.
RMH answers the special need of these special families by offering loving, home‑like environments where they can find support and share experiences with others who are also undergoing the trauma of childhood illness.
2002 through 2004 December meetings benefitted Toys for Tots charities. 2005 to present meetings benefit Ronald McDonald House charities.

Just an update for everyone, I haven't gotten nearly close to the 50 responses needed to consider getting the media out to the event, unless there is an outpouring of support in the next couple of days we might have to cancel that part of the meet.

Don't forget it's not JUST toys but also gifts for all ages too! Please remember all gifts must be NEW and unwrapped!

Greetings all,
Well we didn't have quite 50 people show up but we did have one of the largest outpourings of donations to date.
Over 80 items including toys, clothes and cash donations were recieved at Tuesday's meeting. Your support is greatly appreciated and proves that our club is filled with plenty of generous hearts.
We will be taking the items to the Ronald McDonald House during afternoon business hours on Thursday, so if you would like to come along, please contact us directly via email at info@houstonrx7club.com ASAP.
Thank you everyone for another successful holiday meeting, see you all New Years Day!!

So sorry I missed it. I got done with practice way too late and then when I finally did start heading over that way, got pulled over. Just a warning, but put me out of the mood. Great to hear everything went so well. Hope to meet you all in the future.
