San Antonio has them!

Dear Abby,

I got a call today from the 'first' dealer (Dealer A) that I had requested a pre-order from. He said they had two RX-8 come in, and that the one they ordered for me would be here next week. Well, I blew that dealer off in January because the salesman told me the GM wouldn't guarantee MSRP or less. I went to Dealer B, where they promised no price gouging and were very honest and straightforward. I ordered from them with a refundable deposit, and the car will be arriving next week. BTW, dealer B also had an RX-8 come in today.

Well, when I told the salesman at dealer A that I ordered from dealer B because of dealer A's lack of a price guarantee, apparently Dealer A is now ready to deal - they offered my $500 under MSRP.

I am torn between saving 500 bucks and sticking with the dealership and salesman that have treated me right. What should I do?

Tell Dealer B your situation and see if they will give you the discount also...

Life is short... take the best deal and don't worry about hurting someones's feelings. Alot of this is being caused by Mazda themselves because of their mishandling of this whole preorder/ rollout/ release process, and their lack of communication. If the dealers can't/won't press Mazda for information and results, then it's partially their fault, too. Neither the dealer nor Mazda would think twice about putting their own best interests before yours... make yourself the priority and do what's right for you.

Dealer B is World Car Mazda on Fredericksburg Road. I am dealing with Danny Davila, the internet sales mgr. His email is dannydavila@myworldcar.com. I am very leery of car dealers and salesmen in general, but he is a breath of fresh air. If you contact him, tell him Kevin sent you

Take the best deal.

They will sell every car that comes in probably at MSRP.

I'm with wiggles and javahut. Take the money and run. You're not tied to the dealer - they'd sell it out from under you if someone came in with a briefcase full of cash looking to pay 10K over.... Is it worth 500 bucks to keep everyone happy? If so, I'm pissed. I need money. I think a 250 will hold me till my car gets here....:D

Go w/ the dealer that has treated you right. They deserve the business for being honest and straightforward. If we keep giving slimeballs business, they'll keep being slimeballs. Who was dealer A. I have been dealing w/ all 3 and like them all but one, so I'm wondering if it's the same one.

Dear FIX8TED

Didn't your mother ever tell you to take the money and run? Of course not, she told you to treat people as you would like them to treat you - with honesty and sincerity. Go to B and tell them the situation - they will probably drop their price a little to keep you happy. Think to yourself who would you like to deal with for future car purchases - a good relationship now based on trust and honesty could pay dividends in the future.

Yours

Abby
