Man, you are only 60 minutes away - go this weekend and take a couple of folks with you.
If I lived there I would go there all the time. It takes you less time to get there than it does me to get home from work in the Metromess.

Yes you live in a great place for runs. You can to a weekend to Big Bend pretty easy Hwy 170 (The River Road) is listed as one of the 15 best drives in America. Run it from Lajitas to Presidio it is awesome.
There is also a timed speed run to Sanderson once a year where they actually close the Highway. I can't remember what that is called but it is way closer to you as well.

Sorry I missed this one guys, I really wanted to go but life has thrown me a LOT of curveballs lately. If any of you guys are interested in another hill country day long adventure with a Christmas twist, I'll be leading one with my TexasRxs homies around the 2nd weekend of December, it's a 4 city tour through a lot of really fun roads with a stop in Fredricksburg and ending with the Christmas lights in Johnson city. I had a blast last year, even got a speeding ticket from an office with a last name of "Bacon"
Route details are at http://www.texasrxs.org/junk/12-15%20Directions/ (just click on the word doc.)
I'll probably start another thread as the date approaches, just wanted to throw that out there to those who like twisties and goofing off in the hill country.

Finally caught up with the goings on. It looks like I have missed out on a lot. I know I am late with this, but I have not had time to put it together, until now.
SEATOWNRACER: Dude, you did “onehellova” job organizing this event. Thank you for stepping up to the plate. I will be there again and next time NO VALERO GAS.
CRETO: You did a great job leading the pack and as long as I stay away from the VALERO GAS, my presence will be better known. And now you have come up with a great name for the event. But it would be nice if the 8 could have some representation for the RX. After all an RX-8 driver, a damn descent one at that, did drop the map and as he picked it up and turned it, noticed the awesome configuration. *snicker* lol……Great idea, no matter how it came about. THANKS. A shirt should be made for the past event and I want two.
MYARDOR: Thanks to you, for giving up your room, and the other RX-8 driver (cannot remember his name) for sharing his with you so my wife and I could have a room. Yes, I made reservations weeks in advance, but the Inn lost it.
CORNHOLIO: Thanks to you for turning around and assisting me. The car was running very strong, as you are aware of, until that damn VALERO GAS. Thank you very much for following me back to the Inn.
TX09RX: Did not have to worry too much about the cattle guards. Started going over them after the VALERO GAS and after the VALERO GAS I could not get any power. I will see you at the Houston meeting on Tuesday.
9KRPMRX8: I am going to get that tune-up. The car is suppose to smoke but not near as much as it was after that VALERO GAS. I filled up at EXXON before I left, then went to VALERO for coffee. The car ran great on the way home. It even accidentally sucked-up a G-35, (not much to brag about there). I will be in your area next month. I am going to meet JIGGAWHA 1 and others. Please join us………….
It was really great meeting a lot of very nice people. Those of you that did not make it, you really missed out on “onehellova” event. I am looking forward to the next one and meeting everyone again, along with others. Thanks to all of the great people I met.

let me first say that I was totally hating on your rims. They are so pimp. If you need a place to tune let me know, I have had many turbocharged cars and I know how finicky they can be, especially when they didn't come that way, which is why my 8 is stock. It's fun to turbo but it gets kinda old after a while. Next time just bring some fuel additives with you on long road trips. You should get the Cobb AP from MM too, it will be well worth the money.
Let me know when you are in town, I am always down for a meet.
Also, what is the screen name of the guy with the VR from Lubbock? I cleared a ECU code for him and I was just curious if it came back or if it was the gas cap.
I was really surprised you didn't make it Canary since you are the Hill Country run expert. For those who don't know visit www.hillcountrydrives.com

How about Texas Rotary Road Run - aka TX RRR.
This shys away from having the event linked to a specific place (in the event it ever relocates to other locales).
The Texas8 think seems pretty exclusive to the whole 8 community, what no love for your rotary brothers?

of course there is, we even had a turbo rx7 out there...........the 8 really stands for a figure 8 or the 8 cities that we go through. We cover about 300 miles of hill country roads on this cruise so it not like we are stuck in kerrville.
