Hi, I have been reading and can't find details about this Carlos fellow who can properly work on RX-8s. I am looking at buying one would love to have him do a prepurchase inspection. Could some one please post contact info for him and/or the name of the shop? Thanks!
@Alexzt111: Hello, pretty much all of us use a guy named Carlos to do all of our work. He is an actual certified rotary mechanic unlike everyone at Nelson. And he also doesn't charge you a fortune to do the repairs. His shop is located at 71st and Aspen(145th) in Broken Arrow. Hidden back in that industrial complex. If you would like I can PM you his number.

Thank you renesisjim and james for getting back to me about Carlos!
I called Carlos this morning and he said he was on vacation for the next two weeks, so he couldn't see the car. However, he did say so long as I get the car get hot, 10 or 15 minutes driving, and then turn it off and restart it, I can check if the motor is healthy. Quick/normal start is good, hard/no start is bad.
So, I was driving the car today, to home and back to the dealer. Had no problems with getting the engine to start up after all the driving- good 1/2 hour or so. However, the low coolant light went on and off 2 or three times. Is this something to worry about/dissuade me from buying this car?

So, I went back and checked the coolant level this morning, since I didn't know that it was the coolant light until after I got home and did some searching yesterday. Dealer said he hadn't had time for his guys to get at it yet. He let me go look and coolant level was 1/4 to 1/2 inch ovder the Full mark. This points to a bad sensor, as you had surmised. I took the cap off and looked inside the reservoir, there was swirly sheen/film on the surface, but not really rainbow color like oily driveway in the rain. Is that normal, or does this seem like oil getting into the coolant because a seal/gasket has failed?
I really appreciate your help!
