FL Bose Center 3" Speaker Question

What inexpensive aftermarket speaker will fit the Bose center channel dash speaker without modification? I've searched and read a 4" will fit in the spot so I bought these from Amazon but it doesn't fit because they are kind of deep and will require some dash fabrication. Was worth a shot for the $. I don't really have the tools or time to do a decent job.

If anyone could e-mail me specific aftermarket models, tips hopefully under $30 that would be great. Also posted a WTB if anyone has one laying around. Also would be willing to pay someone in the Tampa area to install the aftermarket one I have. Thanks

PS- I have a 2004 and the stock Bose center lasted almost 8.5 years until it start hissing uncontrollably one day even without the radio on. I took it out of the dash and that solved it so I'm thinking it's busted. I'm just contemplating having nothing there but the thought would kind of bother me. I was kind of surprised how shitty the stock speaker was with it's paper cone. I used to mess with car audio all the time but it's still shocks me how cheap the OEM stuff is.

Honestly , if you only want to spend 30 or less you may as well stick with your factory bose center speaker. You won't find much that sounds that much better for that amount of money.

I used a Boston Acoustics S-35, 3.5" to replace the Bose. However, it does take a fair amount of messing around to get it to fit, and it's only available in pairs. If you want my old Bose one, $5 plus shipping, pm me.

Good Lord, don't replace it! Leave it out! All that thing does is ruin stereo imaging.

Whole center area needs to come out. Remove shifter **** and pull that panel, couple screws, remove ash tray, couple screws, remove radio, remove a/c vents, etc etc. Just work your way up. Look up instructions on radio removal if you need details.

I don't use the center speaker location at all, but I can tell you from experience that Pioneer's speakers all run more shallow than their comparative competitors. Whenever I have depth issues on a customer's car, they'd frequently switch to a pair of Pioneers which would fit fine. They're always cheap too.

However, if the stock speaker was buzzing even with the radio off, it sounds like you may have problems with that channel on the amp. With the radio off, the speaker shouldn't be receiving any signal at all. Did the 4" speaker you tried to install make the same noise? Or did you even try it?

The 30 second solution is to pop the cover off then reach up there and rip the entire paper cone out...you'll be glad you did!

You guys realize simply having a paper cone doesn't automatically mean low quality, correct? Paper has an incredible amount of advantages when used as a cone. Some of the highest-end audio manufacturers use paper.

I have a working radio that I desperately need to sell so that I can buy the right model. I replaced a non-workingunit with one from a NAV-equipped rx8 and it does not work in my car without the navigation system.

SO ANYONE WHO WANTS A GOOD RADIO FOR NAV-EQUIPPED RX8, ITS FOR SALE!!!!

Yes, paper mids and woofers are wonderful and quite realistic. Can't stand polypropylene woofers...very unnatural sound.
