After you replace your AccessPORT, Cobb can get you going again.
Best bet is to treat your AP like its gold.

I figured so much. Once I'm flashed and running fine I'm putting it in our fire proof safe

I really need to stop keeping this thing in the compartment where the navigation DVD player sits.

Thank you so much in advance!
I don't understand the question.
Injectors are not "ganged".
They are staged. Look at my diagram elsewhere on the site.

Yea, once the car is running good no need to still have it pluggd in all the time. Unless you want to see some of the data screens.

i leave it in my house.

no need for it in the car. if i get a new map, i need it to be hooked up to the PC to download the map before I can go to my car with it anyway.

You have a Scan Gauge II, separate AFR gauge, etc, though.

Btw, are the readouts on the AP essentially the same as the Scan Gauge, or are there alot more?

the sg2 can display anything the ap live gauges can, but it can do 4 at a time. The problem is, there isn't xgauge codes avaliable for rx8 specific things yet. So you aren't going to see wideband readout just yet. In my case I don't care because I have a real wideband gauge and don't need the factory readout.

Since this might be a reliability thing I might want to get one of these when I get my car. But a question or two:

If you flash and something goes wrong, what do you do? Seeing as I've had clients in my hardware days who flashed bioses and faulted their motherboard in their PC that's a worry.

Also, does anything the dealer does in service interfere with this programming you'd do?

And last, will a map that's not good for the car possibly ruin something horribly?

Ahh.
Its (1/2), (3/4) & (5/6) on the '04 and '05.
Its (1/2/3) & (4/5/6) on the rest.

Its not quite as simple as that in actuality, but that is basically the breakdown.
Since you are running the EMU, there isn't much you can do about that, though.

Should i change my map or what?

Did either of you receive the "1c_0" calibrations yet?

I've finally quietly finished reading this entire thread.

MazdaManiac - This looks like an excellent product and service, especially with the semi-custom calibrations you provide. Above all, it would make me know that my engine is finally running the way it was designed to run.

I did some calculations, my NA car is my daily driver, and if I see only a 2-3 mpg increase while cruising, it PAYS FOR ITSELF in 2 years. How could I NOT buy it? Even if it only gains 1mpg, that still significantly offsets the purchase price, at $4.40 a gallon around here...
So, question: are there any relatively accurate before/after accounts of typical mpg with the AP? And I mean accounts from the pump, not from the probably-inaccurate calculated mpg's that the AP displays.

elysium: I've tracked EVERY single mile on my car since it hit 10k (now at 45,000). I can let you know what my mpg average prior to installing my AP. (I'll post that in a day or two when I get back home)

Here's my last 5 tanks with the AP. 75% street, 25% highway, driven VERY agressively.

MPG
17.138
17.611
18.430
16.780
17.650
17.651

Side note: I did NOT buy the AP due to fuel mileage concerns. My car has always gotten the mpg that I expected when I bought it; shitty.
If in fact, my mpg does increase I just think of that as an added bonus to knowing my car is now running better then the day I drove it off the lot.

Jedi - you rock, I would very much appreciate that data. I'm a scientist by training, so I sort of crave that objectivity when assessing this possible purchase...

Fuel mileage is certainly NOT a primary reason for buying the AP but hell, if I believe it will save me a few hundred dollars in gas, then it's certainly a big plus in justifying the purchase, which isn't exactly chump change for me. Thanks again...
