What about from the "About" screen on the AP itself?

was too lazy to go out to the car and plug it in again. I'll check when I get home.
(I'm probably going to feel really stupid in a few hours...thanks Jason! )

Hehe, well there is an install process so hard to say, but I wouldn't know, that is one of the many features that don't work on the Mac version of the AP Manager.

You would want to check the device itself, the AP manager software may not report the firmware correctly.

stuck at O'hare? Is it because you told the airline:

"Hey, hey, If you would take a second, take the little sticks out of your head, clean out your ears, and maybe you would see that I'm a person who has feelings, and all I have to do is do what I wanna do and all I want to do is hold on to my bag and not listen to you! And the only way that I would ever let go of my bag would be if you came over here right now and tried to pry it from my dead, lifeless fingers, okay? If you can get it from my kung-fu grip then you can come and have it, okay? Otherwise, step off, bitch. "

I too am extrememly close to clicking the buy button. This would prob be my last big purchase till next year (school, work, winter(yikes ). As I understand it, if something were to arise and I had to go back to stock map, in order to avoid any probs at dealer, I would be able to yes? Also, would I be able to have this device in hand before the end of this week, before I head down south for a week? Curious to see how she reacts on a long road trip with new map.
I was debating on this or some guages, perferably the ones Jedi has (they look freakin' sweet) but this provides those readouts, and when I get my last CC paid off next year, I will be able to sink some real money into this girl, (turbo, body kit, etc, as long as I don't get another blood sucking girlfriend ).

This is the best bang for the buck performance/economy wise. You can reflash back to the OEM map. If you have a laptop you can get the apdongle driver and ecuexplorer off cobb's forums and use the cable from the accessport for datalogging. The accessport itself is nice for monitoring live numbers. Used it the whole 5 hour drive back home sat night.

Plus MazdaManiac (provided you follow his initial instructions) can provide custom maps that will better fit your car. Can't beat that with a 100lb sledge!

did someone say Jedi gauges??? Price wise, this is about the same as the gauge setup I have so you've got a touch choice to make.

the AP can give you some of the info on my gauges (coolant temp) but you won't have oil PSI or oil temp. Unless you live in very hot climate, you probably dont need the gauges. (I bought them because I'm often in 100+ degree weather)

The AP definitely has more advantages then the gauges as all the maps lower the fan temps, inject more oil, and can lean out that super rich tune that mazda went with.
I thought I'd have my AP plugged in more often but to be honest, it rarely ever gets used now that I have my map loaded. (just food for thought)

the shiftlight function was added in the last firmware upgrade. The background will flash in any Live Mode screen at a preset rpm (which is configurable in one of the setup screens)

Thinking about the AP

Hey Jeff, how's it goin?

Right now my only mod is mazsport ignition

I'm thinking about adding the Cobb AP and Mazsport midpipe

Is it "safe" to use the AP with the mazsport ignition if I'm staying NA?
Read about the problems with dwell

Also, any idea what peak whp I might see with: ignition/AP/midipe?

Been looking for dyno sheets but this thread is huge, thank you! =)

Thanks mrslysly and Jedi54, I'm sold . Though later on I might still have to get those guages, even if just for the sweetness factor . I'm stationed in Ohio so the temps, at least last year, got in the high 90's, so the early fan turn on will be helpful. The only thing I gotta do now is decide if I want to get a snow tire/rim set or a beater truck when the time comes.

MSP16 reflash and Cobb compatability?

This may have been covered already, but I can't find the answer. Would the AccessPort wipe out an MSP16 reflash if it has already been done at the dealer, or does is somehow leave that intact?

THIS is what i was referring to a while back when i asked about freeware/open source data logging..... i KNEW i had seen something out there, now i just have to find it again. i fail at navigating Cobb's site

it will be interesting to try the datalogging with the scangauge plugged in on a splitter.... i'll post about that in the other thread i have

EDIT: apparently the ecuexplorer is a bust for out cars...
http://forums.cobbtuning.com/forums/...559#post523559 i'll still give it a shot if no one else can confirm its still a no go for RX-8's

the AP will "learn" that tune, store it on it's memory, and then it'll be replaced with a custom map. If you ever want to go back to it, plug in the AP, reload that map.

yes, but it wouldn't be a problem! if you buy the AP from Jeff his map increases oil injection, same thing done by the MSP16 reflash

Has anyone else noticed this??

that after flashing the ECu wth the AP the car seems to be burning more oil than normal???

Its not that much but it seems i have to tope it off more frequently than i used to..
i havetn read anything on this but injecting more oil also cause more oil to be burnt???

may be a dumb question but i just dont see anything about this topic being discussed

valid observation, it is normal.
MM has turned up the OMP settings on all tunes since it was not a sufficient amount of oil under the old mazda settings.

Fear not, your Renesis will thank you for it.
