check the connections on the maf sensor.

Shouldn't the AP still be able to talk to the ECU though? I figured I might have to fix some of the vacuum hoses on the MAF, since it appears they were plugged up when all the work at Mazsport was done on it (Interceptor didn't need them, I guess). I'll get those hooked back up properly, but what about the other part?

MM,

I sent you an e-mail (arangoa79@aol.com) a few days ago about the comp test I had in Chicago. Can you also look at the following thread https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/fs-cobb-ap-efidude-prologger-148841/ and chime in. Thanks

Yes. What is the error the AccessPORT displayed?
Did you completely disconnect it, cycle the ignition and try again?
Was the ignition in the "on" position?

I had the EXACT same problem when I tried to use the AP instead of the interceptor. If you figure it out let me know.

my first guess would be a vacuum leak. The int-x wouldn't care if you had a hole in your intake piping the size of a fist. It would continue to run fine. If you have one uncapped vacuum hose or nipple, your going to find the vehicle difficult to idle properly when using the MAF.

Jeff,

Hate to jump in hear but can you check out this thread, the potential buyers would like to know if you will support the AP if they buy it from me. I was at the Chicago Dyno day and also got a compression test done. Thanks https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=148841

Yes. You should fix the problem. If you reset a CEL but still have a problem the CEL will come back. I'm not sure what the secondary air injection is. What are your mods?

Yes. I was thinking if he swapped out his exhaust manifold for a header he might see this.

Send the calibration you have settled on to ap@mazdamaniac (.com) and I'll check what is up.
There are two possibilities:

1) I didn't mask the secondary air CEL
2) There are still problems with the MAF recalibration that sets an unrelated CEL.

I had some cars with case number 2. It was usually the ESS that set the CEL, even though there was nothing actually wrong.
I have one here in Phoenix that sets the front O2 CEL.
Its sort of random.

Its not that I didn't mean to mask it, I just may have overlooked it.
There are, after all, a hundred or so of the little buggers.

Got my AP in the mail today Would have been here last Fri but UPS had a weather delay. Tomorrow evening I will attempt, following the instructions on the first page of this thread, loading/reflashing my car.

Thanks MM!

figured I'd provide an update with the progess I've been making between my 2004 4AT and COBB.

They've got the AP clearing the U0100 for me now as part of the Reset ECU function. I think they're working on getting it to read it now that they can clear it. Hopefully they'll also come with with something that squashes it all-together.

I'll have some stats for you soon Jeff. With all this resetting it's been hard to get a nice good baseline for you. Once things stabilize on the COBB firmware front, I'd like to see what all we can do for smoothing a couple areas out.

I'm still not totally happy with some of the gear transisition... higher rpm shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd can be jumpy. I'd also like to get the anti-theft and valet maps going for my 4AT, and there's also the fuel economy route I'd like to explore.

I'll drop you a line once I've gotten 10 or so full drive cycles and will ship ya off a csv and/or chart of my AFR, STFT, Load, RPM, MAF, and any other parameters you would consider useful that I can pull from the sCANalyser.

Jeff, I emailed some logs to you running your "2005 MT NA v1c_0dc.ptm" map. The title is "Re: Too lean AFR at WOT", although I think I am pretty close now. I now have a bunch of data downloaded but not a lot of knowledge. My car is now pulling quite a bit better, particularly it seems at 7500+ rpm. Please take a look at my logs and let me know what you think.

Thanks a bunch for what you are doing.

Jeff, sent you a mail a couple of weeks ago. Have you figured out if you can ship to Europe and how you could take payment in that case. (since your checkout shipping charge is for US only)

(my car is North American as I mentioned)
