I'd been using the Hymee sCANalyser for my logging but after looking at efidude I placed an order for it... if only for the sake of convienence... besides sCANalyser is a little buggy and I haven't had a lot of success getting info from Hymee about it.

I'll post two charts I produced for Jeff when I get home tonight for scrutiny. I'm pretty sure I'm capturing the elements he's looking for.

I use the sCANalyzer as well, though for real logging I use the AccessPORT tuning software datalogging function, so I can' really help anyone with that.

All I really need from users is a nice JPEG screen-shot of RPM, MAF/load and AFR from whatever software you use. That is the single quickest way for me to understand what is going on.

Jeff,

since you're pretty familiar with the scanalyzer logs (and I'm a n00b with excel), can I just send you the raw data?
If not, I can take a little time to refresh my excel skillzors and send you a graph.

up to you. Thanks!

I can used raw data, but it considerably increases my workload - especially if the datalog has a lot of non-WOT data.

I'm in the same boat. i'm trying to use Mysql's premade graph from his rotaryinsider.com site... Now since Jeef is going to be in Vegas with Mr. Hill, Easy and Phil, I know not much map tweaking will be taking place.

Thanks for the graph Jason!

bummer. I haven't been able to wind out my new engine much cause I've been in between hardware changes, and now need map updates.

I guess I'll try uninstalling the AP and see how the OEM map feels.

Here's a graph I threw together from some sCANalyser data I collected the other night. 4AT model and I was unable to get past 3rd gear before having to back off.

You really need to scale that properly. The AFR is a very important value that needs to be looked at with some level of precision. A graph that goes from 0-20 on the Y-axis would be a lot better.

so basically unless we have something like the efidude or scanalyzer we cant really get any of the info to you? I guess I should have read the details about the AP more carefully. Not that I regret getting it, but was under the impression that was one of the features. Though the monitoring is a nice feature as well.

You can give me data by reading the AP display if you are descriptive enough.
I get e-mails like:
"At WOT in 3rd and 4th, it is at 13.2 until 5500 RPM and then it drops to 11:1 and stays there."

That is enough for me to give you a pretty good fix.

So then I should divide RPM by 100 and put it on the primary axis with everything but AFR and put AFR on the secondary axis with a 0-20 scale like so?

I typically datalog a WOT run in one gear at a time from ~2krpm to redline in 2nd gear. Then another run in 3rd gear. This allows you to get a cleaner graph and a full range of WOT AFR readings in a clean graph.

Just take readings one gear at a time.

I take it there's not much I can do for 4th gear on my AT without being on a very LONG straight?

how many datalogs are typically needed to dial in the map to the best performance? [/quote]

It sometimes gets done the first time. Others, it might take two or three iterations.

"Safe" depends on a bunch of factors, but its really hard to damage an N/A car.

LOL. Fortunately, 4th gear is the same fuel map as 3rd.

ok, someone just pm'd me today asking how I did it, and it makes me feel good cause it was something I was unclear on. When we first get the AP, we install it with the car, then put in the original map, start it up and have it displalying the STFT. Now here's where me and the other user got confused. Your directions said to drive around the block once it was almost warmed up and then select the appropriate map. But when I asked (through PM to MM) about which I should do (because after driving around a little, it went anywhere from -2% to 4% at idle), it sounded like I was supposed to see what it was displaying right at start up. I know is this much more simple than I'm making it out to be... but any help to clear this up for the both of us (and anyone else who has might be confused) is appreciated.

side note: I settled on 1b because mine was sitting at -2% the most and have been checking stuff like AFR and LTFT. Both seem pretty in line, but quick question.. when checking the AFR under high load... is it better to do WOT accelerating or what? cause under WOT I'm seeing 11's for the AFR but if I step on it while in 6th (~60 mph) I'm seeing low 14's which is what sounds closer to what is described in the original post as being normal. Sorry about all the nooby questions, kinda new to this whole thing and know that if I have it set up wrong, it could be quite bad for the engine.

Nicely done Jeff. You sound very enunciated. Seriously though it's a nice clear piece that should help a lot.
