Because after I followed the instructions, it would still drop idle rpms very low a few times and almost stall before it would come to life, and it would do this every time I get to a stoplight.
So I would reflash with the "0" file, and then redo the STFT thing. Problem is, I get a different STFT every time.
Deleted CELs, lower fan start points, etc. etc. etc.
"0".
EDIT: Then I waited for the vehicle to warm up, as the instruction says. Took it out around the block (in my case, a few rounds, because I had to go somewhere, and was calibrating as I went around campus). Stopped, looked at the STFT reading, and recorded what was about constant. Then I flashed with whatever file that added or subtracted the appropriate amount to bring the STFT to "sort of" zero. 'b' file for negative STFT values, 'a' files for positive.
I'm pretty damned sure I'm doing this right. So far I've not let one file sit for more than two drive cycles yet, since the instruction also says the method isn't valid anymore after a few.

WTF?
Stock-style tuning? Why would anyone buy that?

MM,
did you receive my graph? I sent it to you about a week ago along with a follow up email with some concerns I had. I'm assuming it'll probably take another week or two for my calibrations to be sent to me...
Thanx,
Ramon

So......after your STFT stabilizes to zero +/- a few points, take a look at your LTFT and choose your map based on that. If it's positive, use the "A" series. If it's negative, use the "B" series

after reflashing any new map, the idle will be a bit wonky for a while. it settles down after youve turned the car on and off a few times, as long as you leave the same map on it.
youre changing maps way to fast dothackrave and you arent letting the idle settle down. go back and read this thread more it will help...

Just update the AP like usual with the new updater program. The AP will check the dongle's firmware version when you put it back in the car and update it if necessary. The dongle firmware update involves an ~8 second erase stage, a reboot (unplug/replug dongle from ODB port), a ~3 second write stage, and one final reboot. In short, the AP itself will flash the dongle when you reconnect it.

MM, you should have an email from me. for everyone's viewing pleasure (everybody loves graphs!)
AFRs in 2nd and 3rd gear:

California MT using map 2a. Hopefully there'll be a decent bump in powah and some savings in gas when it gets retuned!

Power!!
I'm updating my AP with the new updater software and it is hung up.![Frown](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
The updater is on step 23 of 23 and the AP says "updating" and they're just sitting there. It's been about 10 minutes.
Can I just unplug it or restart my computer?![Frown](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I don't want to screw up anything permanently.
A Little help?

Yeah, the update definitely rocks. I'll get you that cruise AFR tomorrow, I have my company truck today and my car is @ work. Yay, free gas!
BTW, I'm assuming you want the cruise AFR in 6th? Could you possibly make it use a bit less gas from 65 mph and up while cruising? I think 4200 is a bit higher than it's usually sitting at while on the highway, but I don't remember. There are way too many cops in NJ to really speed for long distances. W/e, I'll give you both cruise AFRs.
