I'm curious, are you just swapping back to the stock map, or doing a complete uninstall of the AP? I'm running a stock map right now until Jeff gets back to me with an updated map (was running way hot) but I need to take the 8 into the dealer shortly for routine maintenance.

you have to do a complete uninstall to get back to the "pristine" dealer flash.

Jeff, have you been able to get caught up with the e-mails over the past few weeks?

Way back when, I had my car reflashed with MSP16 while I still had the AP installed. Nobody said a word.

Edit: Bummer, I took the survey, went to download the tuner software, and get a file not found error when I click on the link in the email. After reading the Cobb forums...looks like the files have been pulled for the time being.

I think Jeff is going to be absolutely bombarded with orders, map requests, and tuning questions when he returns.... then the bitching that his maps are locked from editing will begin!

I'd be suprised if anyone who is smart enough to work on their own maps will bitch that Jeff has locked down his... but then again, this is the interwebs

people who don't know how to tune want his maps unlocked so they can "tune" their own.

Jeff assumes more liability by having his maps unlocked in the open.

As long as Jeff is up front with what he's doing - you know to come to him for a good AP map (which you cannot modify). If you cannot accept that, go elsewhere to get an unlocked tune and hope the tuner knows the system as well as Jeff does.

Exactly. Anyone that has any business tuning should be able to make their own maps, just like Jeff did. Jeff didn't have a template to start from, so figure it out people.

As long as I get a custom map soon I don't care if it's locked with a key the size of New York :P Personally I think it looks a bit risky to mess around with this too much myself.

Yeah, I've got a couple emails pending for him, I didn't realize he was out of town. I was like hmmm, I think my email went through... No bitching from most about the locked maps I think, at least for me, I'm not dumb enough to start monkeying around with the tune, I just don't know what I'm doing well enough. Especially for the FI people, all it takes is one hole in the tune and pop goes the engine.

random question: what are you guys seeing in open loop? (30 + seconds of 4200 rpm)

I sent Jeff some logs this weekend, kinnda crazy seeing 11.0 AFR's in 1st and 2nd gear.
open loop was 13.3

that might explain why I"m not getting the fuel mileage some of you guys are.

Yeah, with the stock MM map I'm at 11.1 AFR at WOT. (acronyms!) I'm not exactly sure where I'm running lean enough to heat up, but my cat got -very- spicy after a few days with the stock MM map. I've actually had to revert to the stock map until Jeff can help me sort it out. I hope he got my email, the stock map sucks so bad after getting used to his tune. It feels like I'm driving a Yugo.
