I know there is a lot of critisim here but............

I've seen several of the stock maps provided by MM on several cars.

If you follow instructions, the maps provided are perfect for NA.

Enhanced performance with security to know that you can run forever and your car will not blow up.

You don't need a perfect tune right on the edge.

The delta's I have seen are very small for the stock maps provided.

Did you know that as your car ages everthing wears? The tune changes.

So why not be safe and use the stock MM maps with instructions?

Very few of you take it to the track in which you will use any fine tuning adjustments.

I see too much bitching from NA users.

how much difference does the AP make to stock NA anyway? It does lots of nice stuff regardless of increasing the performance on NA's but how much improvement does it provide over the stock ECU's settings, and how? Is anything sacraficed? Fuel economy, emissions, longevity, etc?

nothing is sacrificed that i know. MM just leans it out a little, lowers the fan temps, and a few other things.

No. That's not perfect where it is or where MM wants it to be. I'm not bitching about razors edge perfection. Just wanting to get the tune where it's supposed to be. That's about a 10% reduction in fuel flow at WOT. I'd say that's significant power to be had.

of course they would, but how many people here would want to go in for even a minor surgery with a Doc who had just read some books and never actually cut open a patient??

so how many people would want someone tuning their car who had no practical experience, but only some knowledge from his recent research?

^ tuning the fuel maps (for NA) is in no way different then most other cars and not rocket science.... after you deal with the fuel trims you either move the table leaner or richer until your at where you need to be

This is probably the most user friends engine management program i've ever seen

Then why wouldn't mazda have leaned out the stock cars on their own? Seems like a simple enough concept. They must have had some reason. And leaner is better for emissions too isn't it? So wouldn't they have had added incentive?

If I understand correctly, they purposely made the tune rich to cool down exhaust and save the cat. Leaning it out causes it to run hotter and thus destroy your cat. They're required to have the cat converter last for I think 100k miles(throwing out a wild guess there) and if they made it leaner I don't think it would've lasted that long

I agree with you man until I see a WOT run that stays above 12 and below 13 from 5,000 rpm all the way to redline. Nobody has posted a run like this to date on this thread and I am still waiting for it. Thats the main reason why I havent purchased this product yet. To me you havent gained anything yet or else why would your afr's be buried in the 11.0 range. Doesnt make sense.

Step1) buy an AP from MM based on his "service" and credibility
Step2) request a map and supply data....hear nothing
Step3) wait 30 days and ask for an update....hear nothing
Step4) wait 60 days and ask for an update....hear nothing
Step5) bitch about being ignored for 60+ days

What don't you get about that?

Given the level of "service", the comments have been appropriate. Honestly, as a consumer, I don't usually tolerate being ignored by anyone, but unless someone else can provide a base CA turbo map, I'm over a barrel.

Why not just contact an AP pro-tuner in your area?

There's about a dozen access tuners in CA. None of them will provide custom mapping for a RX-8?

We have two in Chicago, I know for sure at least one of them will.

...that have experience with FI and RX8s. It shouldn't have to come to this, but I'm calling them right now.

Called 5 that I recognized as being within a few hours drive (socal).

2 were at SEMA and I'll try them back. The other three had NO experience with the AP and FI RX8s. One actually suggested I contact Racing Beat which I might do. Another recommended I contact Cobb and verify the AP would work for FI. Only one guy said he'd be willing to give it shot. I also called NeptuneSpeed/GarageRX and they have no AP experience.

Anyone surprised?

I am in the same boat as dynamic....no tuners in my area that has AP knowledge. I just hope to get a safe tune at least before my 6 months of free tunes deal runs out.

Kane, if it were possible, I would pay you for a safe tune for my FI 8.

I'd guess there are some out there that can perform the service - maybe Gotham or Mazsport...but you'd have to call and ask depending on your setup...both of them have the AP and have tuned with it already...

Has nothing to do with money - I would just be re-releasing a new version of my software that can read, interpret and tune the AP - just a matter of getting the right data relationship.

I have zero desire to be traditional tuner. However; if it works - download the Beta and be your own tuner.

I will for sure as it looks like this may be a good option for me
