Off Topic: It always cracks me up to see the FI guys make fun of dudes for spending money for 5-7 HP..... " 5 HP - WTF MAN; I just turn this **** one click to the right...." We are such snobs.

yeah, but the NA guys are like 20 lbs lighter because they don't have the intercooler and turbo under the hood! So they're more nimble and able to take the FI guys in the twistiesszzzzzz!@#!@#eleventoneoneone

lol

Beer = empty stomach = WIN!

Gains are a bit unpredictable.
It really depends on where your car is right now
You have an excellent tool in your possession. Run some data logs with the AP and report back.

Dude, I got a turbo in the passenger seat. After an hour, it spools up and spits out elephant power (they're more powerful than horses).

Anyway, we're getting off topic. As MM said, gains are not definite and cannot be accurately ascertained because no two cars are exactly the same. It all depends on the condition of the vehicle and how it reacts to having leaner AFR targets and timing adjustments.

elephant power is nothing compared to my electricsuperNAWZcharger.....it BLASTS electrified nawz powered air that rapes your elephant power.

the official term is Electric Super Nawzcharger Power, or ESNP.

Thank you again, I was really wondering if you had any info if Cobb intends to post a firmware update so my investment will at least shut off with the ign. I have heard that some folks have had the image burned into the screen from it staying on. In the mean time I am just going to wire it through a relay. BTW I ask you because when I call Cobb the tell me to ask you lol. You should take that as a huge complement.
I just unplug mine after I turn off the car
no need to wire it up to anything

MS/AEM CAI..... Please help me here.... since we've digressed... having had my bumper off Friday night it was pretty clear to me that my stock intake is already pretty much a CAI... WTF am I missing?

I could understand going AEM/MS if I needed the room for a turbo, but I'm NA.

Why are people (and I know this has come up countless times before) obsessing over a friggin intake on our car when the stock one sucks in air a mere 2 feet higher than the MS/AEM one?

It is almost like Mazda engineered it to work as good as possible...

What is this I hear.... ah... it's the voice of reason!

I need to keep reading comments like this, otherwise I'm going to end up with a CAI when all possible logic already tells me I have a perfectly good one from the factory.

btw, if anyone has looked at the updated firmware version of the ap, you'll see not only does it give you a current readout, but at the bottom it shows you the min and max numbers (in small letters) seen thus far.

What we all need to ask Cobb for next is the ability to display odb2 info in that min/max sized font. This would allow us to show 4-6(?) readings at the same time, and thus mean I can get rid of my scangauge2 and permanently mount my accessport on my dash somewhere.

If they can give us this, I think the AP will be complete. The only other thing on my wishlist was datalogging, and they've delivered on that beyond what I had expected.

All in all, I can honestly say that the AP is what makes FI on the RX-8 finally acceptable and it goes beyond a simple reflasher. As always, kudos for Jeff doing all the hard work for the community. Without him on the ball, I think we'd still be slowly working our way forward.

I'd imagine that would be easy to accomplish. They are already "monitoring" any amount of PIDs while datalogging them.. shouldn't be hard to display them.

Back when I first read about the AP I thought this was something of the basics.

In a grid formation? 2 PIDs on each line?

I figure 4 would be feasible. Even if it was only the value itself and not a description.

Kane, you should read my post again - they already display info with small font. It's perfectly readable

4-6 lines of info = awesome. I'd also like to see cat temp on the list of available items.

Hmmm, if you can deal with it then more power to you; I personally think anything smaller than a Dashhawk is going to be too hard to read with 6 PIDS on display.

But I am old...
