I doubt you are suddenly getting detonation - especially with the AP uninstalled.
I think you have some other problem - likely ignition.
If you lose a leading coil, you will get detonation from the trailing, but having a sudden coil failure is weird.

If you are having problems with it uninstalled, a new calibration won't fix whatever is going on.
You need a properly functions car to take advantage of the tuning.

I re-read all your posts.

I don't think you have a problem.

You need to go one map up from the map on that video.
Are you one of those nuts who kept posting on the marbles in a can thread?

Don't worry about it.

A member here just posted what real detonation sounds like.

You've had that marbles in a can sound since you owned it.

It ain't blown up yet.

If you were hearing a slight detenation and had 14's A/F, the worst thing you did was go back to stock. You went the wrong direction.

I think you need map 1.b

If your still frustrated. Then find someone in your area that can help you.

Shouldnt he try the 2A or 3A then to add more according to this?

------------------------------

So if you watch the STFT and see it's -6 most of the time, you go to the 3b map to pull 6%. Then you reflash your car with the proper map. The result is that your STFT once it stabilizes should read 0 instead of -6.

1a = +2%
2a = +4%
3a = +6%
-----------
1b = -2%
2b = -4%
3b = -6%

I'm sorry if this was answered already, but if one were to get the Pettit SC(don't flame me) would the AP work better or would the INT-X be better since it was tested with it...or does it matter? Sorry newbie question.....

The AP will work for the SC. Also you'd save almost 50% by getting the AP from Jeff than getting the flash update from Pettit, and as a bonus, you would have the AP forever too.

I barely noticed. I thought maybe you had sight problems and subscribed to reader's digest, large print edition.

Found it! Now I can make some data logs - it's going to be a fun weekend ripping up the back roads.

The cable was hiding in plain sight - damn I'm getting to old

The "b" calibrations are technically leaner, but only up to the mid point of the MAF scaling.

As I said in the e-mail I sent out I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
I need to know who you are (real name) through an e-mail to the address I sent or I can't account for everyone.
The flashes are not generic - they conform to each purchaser - so yelling at me here is useless.

Nearly everyone on the distribution list got their calibrations (except some of the turbo people), so if you didn't get yours, I'll send it again.
But calling on me here in the forum is pointless because I don't know who you are.

Strange...2_2b yields LTFT 5% again and STFT likes to hang out at ~5% hovering back down to 0 +/- 3...

AFR's are nice...and 0-100 is faster than a stock 350z...unfortunately...after that...yeah...

I'm starting to winder if my lean condition was just a problem with lag in reporting....

I switched to the Cobb Stage 1 map yesterday and my car is running pretty good. Its pulling no LTFT. So i romp on it in 2nd gear this morning and watch the AP display for the afr's. I'm getting up to speed and by 7k again i'm seeing 14's again! I'm thinking WTF! Right at the time I leave completely off the gas around 8k, i see 13.6, 13.1, 12.6 flash quickly on the display and then it goes to the 20.3 ratio i would expect with my being off the gas and engine braking.

So it looked like that I didn't get the afr displayed I expected (the 20.3) for a good 2 sec or so... which in 2nd gear 2 sec can be a pretty large amount of rpms at WOT. So i'm wondering if the problem is just in reality lag in the AP display. Perhaps I will risk melting my cat tonight and log with the CANScan.
