Well, the thing is, if they send it back its because it works when they have it.
They won't just throw parts at it and send it back to you.
When it clears their bench, it communicates and flashes properly.
So something is happening at your end. Not saying its your fault particularly, just that there is something going on once you try to use it.

well if it's something on my end..I'd damn sure like for someone to be able to show me what it is. They updated the firmware but I'm telling you the thing WILL not work on any computer I have tried. It locks up and refuses to use any updater or manager. I have been working with computers for over 10 years now..have a bachelors in telecomm.. I do tech support for a living. I could be wrong but I will bet something is wrong with the thing. They have tools for force a firmware update..doesn't mean it's going to just work when it comes to me. I deal with this every day with computers.
I have gone over everything with them..they stated something is wrong with it.
back it goes..tired of trying. waste of my time is what it is.

I really appreciate it Jeff. I am going to give COBB one more try to fix the problem.
I have gone over possibilities over and over of what could be wrong and it all points to a faulty board or something. It connects to the car and works fine but for some reason it's a no-go on a computer. It just refuses to interact with any system. It doesn't matter if I open the mgr or the updater first, or if i plug the AP in first or last and hit connect. They all time-out and or give error codes. I have tried checking and unchecking each and every option, uninstalling the 2.0 driver in the device mgr, and going through the registry also. NO luck.
I would rather you work on my tunes if you would..I will even pay you if need be during my free time period with you. I don't want to bother you with this stuff..it's their product, I just need it to work.
I will hit you up if it comes back again not working. The only thing I can tell is with it is that it's a little slower transferring data when plugged in the car, and it acts weird and one time out of 30 tries, it flickered the initializing screen and it never did it again.
Something is messed up with the board or processor or such. I'll be in touch.
Thanks Jeff!
Ty

That does sound like a hardware issue, but it could be the dongle or the cable also.
Just keep me informed.
Sorry about the issues.
Out of 400 and something AccessPORTs out there, only a few have had hardware issues and nearly all of them ended up being user error, so it will be interesting to see what happened to the hardware on this one.

Talked with COBB today..they stated the unit is on its way. When they got it ,,it locked up for them too so they had to reprogram it a couple of times before it would interact with a computer.. They stated it is good-to-go after 2 rounds of testing and programming. I truely hope so... I like using it and hate sending it back and forth. Crossing my fingers ..............

Since the the last update where the dongel updated in the car, My accessport doesnt loose its connection when i turn vehicle off. Before it would lose communication, now the screen just freezes to w.e was on it. I then restart the car and it stays frozen until i unplugg then replug back in.

Hey Jeff I need to know if I'm still in my Custom cal service, as I haven't received a final or proper tune yet, (due to blown engine) but I sent you a email in regards to this, but to sum it up the problem was the tune itself, I verified this thorugh not only uninstalling the AP, but also reinstalling and flashing various stock (NA) maps.

I'm not sure I understand what you are verifying with a NA calibration.

Jeff Could you send me that color coded injector wiring diagram to my email
or could someone verify if this is right?

Huey brings up a good point: Jeff, any idea if those upgrading to Windows 7 will have issues with the AP software?
My laptop (which I use for this stuff) still runs XP and I'll probably upgrade that to Vista just for the hell of it.
