Hey guys, I just ordered the steering wheel and can't wait to get it.
I was reading up on the wheel removal under the DIY section, and it mentions that the airbag unit is partially held in by some kind of rubber band. Someone asked how difficult it was to put the rubber band back in, but this was never answered.
Can someone just let me know what this is, so I'm not surprised by anything? Even though I know it's safe, I'm already a little nervous about removing the airbag.

The rubber band secures the wiring harness behind the airbag unit, pop out the two 10 mm bolts on either side and pull the airbag forward and just unhook the rubber band from the steering wheel frame. This install is very simple.
Of note though, makes sure you wheel is perfectly straight before you take the wheel off and line the new wheel up, Took me a second try to do this as it slipped my mind, and nothing is more aggravating then driving around with a crocked steering wheel

I was on the fence about the red stitching, but what the hell... maybe I'll just change my shift boot to match.
Thanks guys for the info about the install.

The Michigan "WANKEL"
I'm still on the fence about the red stitching, but the more I think about it, the more I think I would like this steering wheel to replace the somewhat boring OEM one.

Mod edit: Selling in someone else's FS thread is rather rude. Especially so if they are a paying forum vendor.

Hey guys, real quick... I'm doing the install now and just wanted to be sure I'm removing these airbag clips correctly (the orange and yellow ones). How do they come off? I don't just want to start pulling and twisting them without know exactly how they work. These seem to be unique from any other wiring harness connectors on the car.
Thanks in advance...

Good lord, please consult the factory service manual before dealing with an explosive device.
If you are too lazy to look it up the plugs have a black plastic clip that pops out with a flathead screwdriver. It does not matter which one you pull first.
It does matter that you treat it like a bomb.
Unless you want to prove the Darwinism theory correct please always point the emblem away from your body AT ALL TIMES. Store it emblem side up far away enough from you so that if it does indeed pop it will not injure you.
