I believe the unit is the same, just the base map that it comes with is different, which you will want to tune to your car regardless... the base maps are just a starting point.
When you go FI, you will want to re-tune your map to fit your FI specs.

According to Scott there are some internal wiring differences in the 2 units. He said that if it was returned they would reconfigure the unit and send it back.
I had a great conversation with him, and must say he really knows his stuff, and has the patience to listen to my long list of dubious questions

please no flaming as I am knew to this whp thing...I have read thru this thread but it is a little overwhelming at times.....some of the lingo confuses me..
I would like to increase whp on my 05 6MT.....I have heard great things about the interceptor X.....is it worth buying it if I stay NA? and how much whp gain will I get using it and staying NA?
I understand that it can vary according to how you get it tuned...but can someone give me a range at least?
Also, living in Southeastern PA (near Philly)...what are the chances that I can find someone here that will tune it properly?
thanks for any input you can give...

Boltons like a higher flowing cat would benefit most from the tuning since you would have more room to go leaner as oppose to frying your oem cat. So you can get more out of your "bolt ons" not sure how it apply to other upgrades like intake and exhaust though.
Yes. If I want to stay N/A and have the money to shell out for the interceptorx I think it's well worth it for 20-25 whp. People spend 550 on an exhaust and 400 on a high flow cat and 400 on a intake, which combined wouldn't even make 20 whp. (which is probably the least you can get out of some good tuning.)

Don't forget... its not JUST about the interceptor... make sure you get it tuned by a pro. I'm not sure where you would go in PA, but if you ask in your regional forum you'll probably get some good info.

One more month to go, I am going to do the greddy turbo install, after doing some research I came to a conclusion its better to invest alittle more money and get the proper EMS. *Interceptor-X EMS*

The O2 sensor add on for the Interceptor is something else you might want to consider. It really helps to be able to synchronize all your sensor datalogs while tuning. Especially for those with FI.

Update
For those of you awaiting the release of the Pettit Racing Supercharger kit your wait just got much shorter! After discussing the current status and progress of other possible engine management solutions, Cameron has purchased an Interceptor-X for his supercharged car. I anticipate shipping the unit to him as early as next week at which point he will begin tuning the unit to maxamize the performance of his kit. So for those of you who have been waiting for a supercharged version of the RX-8, get ready I think the time is just about here!
