Finished installing the Interceptor and a high flow cat today. Started up fine, but ran pretty bad during warm up. Little bit of white smoke, bad smell, and it was sputtering pretty bad, sounded like a bad miss. After it warmed up though it started running considerably better. Still smelled bad but the idle was decent. I took it for a stroll around the block and it seemed to drive pretty good. I didn't go into boost though so I don't know how the power is. I'm dropping my car off tomorrow night for the dyno tuning appointment, I'll keep everyone posted.

rkostolni the ruff running you were experiencing is prob from the water table of the interceptor it will do that until you reach around 65 degrees. since it looks like your around the same climate i am, its prob best you let the car warm up for a lil while before driving during the winter, that way you shouldnt feel that loading up.
as for mods im running SR high flow midpipe with gutted cat, tanabe catback, koyo rad, profec e01, greddy turbo (of course), exedy hyper single clutch and flywheel, and thats about it.

Question
Got a quick question. I installed the interceptor and in the MIcrotech software the vacuum screen shows -20 HG. Is that ok? or is it supposed to be +20 HG?
Just want to make sure my installation is correct.
Thanks

Just thought I would finally give my first impressions. When starting the car up, like others I get a lot of popping from the exhaust, but it goes away once the car warms up. I'll check out that water temp (?) reading this weekend. The drivability is pretty much like stock, however, for example, if I'm cruising at 36mph in 4th, and let off the gas a little, the car starts to bog a little. I'm not sure what value I need to change to fix that. Also, I've never heard a ping, but I've had it described to me. That being said, sometimes when going into boost around 4-6k, I hear a sound that is either pinging (like PURNRG), or the cat material moving around (like adrian-1). Its hard to tell, but it sounds like sometime rattling around. I'm trying not too boost too much, since I'm not sure what my afr are right now, and don't feel like being on that list of blown motors. I also have a constant cel, but need to hook up a canscan to see whats going on (will order one shortly). I don't have anything to compare it to, since I never ran the emanage, but overall its what I expected. Just need to have it tuned before I can really enjoy things. I'm also getting a lot of smoke/smog coming through my vents which I find a little weird. Does anyone else have that problem? After about an hour of driving, I started feeling a little light headed, which I know is not good (I'm sick too, so that may have a little effect as well). My idle is also pretty bad when I turn the AC on, but I think I read somewhere that a different map is used when it is switched on. So does that mean I need to tune it for the AC off, and the AC on?
I have not spoken with Scott since I picked up the car, so I'm sure some of the issues can be solved after talking to him. On the plus side, the car is completely different now with the added power. I haven't really got on the gas too much yet, but all I can say is wow. I think I'm running about 8psi right now btw. Ok, thats it for now. Feedback is always appreciated.

"Pebbles in a tin can" is how rotary ping is typically described. From your description that's what it is. The interceptor adds a little fuel when the AC is on but if you have acrid white smoke coming out of your exhaust chances are your idle map is too rich.

If you are getting smoke/smog in your car I would check for an exhaust leak. Check you exhaust manifold and hoses etc. That should not happen. Running rich in my experience does not make smoke but fumes (colorless) which smell (coincidently) like gas.

Sadly
Sadly, I am having ping too at like 10-11 psi Though the interceptor would solve the problem, apparently I was wrong or haven't tuned it yet.

I was getting ping at around 10-11psi on the dyno at about 6000RPM, WOT in 4th gear. My AFR was was at 11, so it most definately was not lean. The tunner figured it was a timing issue so we pulled a couple of degrees...we only have 91 octane gas here as well.

Hi Scott. My car was not pinging when we talked. Then couple of days later, went for a ride (temp was about the same, maybe 10 farenheit lower) and i felt some pinging at around 4-6K WOT.
I haven't changed the timing or anything, still waiting to get the AFR device you are developing.
Now remember I told you about the gap or delay when the turbo kicks in? We noticed it kicks in in 4.5K, and it is really strong. We felt the car is dead, I mean completely dead, before 4.5K and suddenly it is a rocketship. We started playing with the mapping thinking it was too rich. Went -15 clicks in the non boost WOT fuel map and nothing happened, we think it got worse. Therefore we tried giving it more fuel at the low ranges (1K to 4K). The end result we felt a difference, the car was a little better so we kept giving it more fuel (up to 65%) more from 1K to 4K and the car reacts way way better.
Now when I unplugged the cable from the interceptor (thinking it was enough for now) the car seems to have lost the map we did. Is there any upload map button? or you make the changes and it is saved automattically so you can disconnect the cable right away? We didn't find any "upload map" button like the emanage, so we thought it would store it as we finished.
Will call you tomorrow so we can talk about this.
Thanks
