He did work on my turbo, but the boost still drops off at high RPMs. He thinks that there might not be enough air flowing out the exhaust manifold at high RPM to keep the turbo making the higher boost. It's all greek to me, so I don't know.

Benny claims the boost falling off can be fixed with an E-01 by using the rpm offset feature, and I've read posts by a few members claiming they can hold higher boosts all the way through the revs.

Do you have a Profec E-01 and are you using the rpm offset? I think I read a post where someone was claiming they could push 9 or 10psi with plenty of offset left over.

I do have an E-01, but I haven't had a chance to play with it at all. I only got to drive my car back from Mazsport before I had to get on a plane. I haven't been back since.

New install today
Well today we did another Interceptor-X install at the shop and would like to share the results with everyone. The customer called last week and said "I have a Greddy Turbo on my RX-8. The power is good but it pops from the exhaust and jerks alot during normal driving" We discussed the Interceptor-X ECU and the how it differed from the emanage at which point he said "If it will fix it, I will come down for the install and dyno tuning" We set the appointment for today, so yesterday he drove from Maryland to Largo Florida. (WOW) Today at 9 am we started, first pulling codes already present and then we uninstalled the emanage and installed the new system. The car started right up (no cel or errors on the Interceptor) so we started test driving. I must say it went very,very well. The idle fluctuated just a bit at first but I have found if you make no adjustments and go through several drive cycles, (engine on and off) the maps are very close. So after several test drives it was off to the dyno. I did adjust the 20hg mixture to 2.33 and the dyno wideband said the AFR's at idle were at 13.1. I turned the Profect B spec2 to "0" and did a pull, then another increasing the gain in 5 point increments. With the gain set to 35 we were up to 10 psi and the AFR's without any adjustments were 11.6 -11.8. The customers car had a Racing Beat cat-back and a SSR high flow cat, 259.2 rwhp and 230 rwtq at 10 psi peak boost. We pulled the cat and exhaust off at the shop to check for meltdown before the dyno and the cat was very black/clogged with carbon. If the cat were in better condition it would have probably done a little better, but the customer was quite happy with the drivability,power and the popping/stumbling was gone. Hey scott, I thought the install of the interceptor-x would put out 290rwhp or close to, not the 259rwhp you just posted , am I reading this post wrong.. I'am at 284rwhp with my Greddy e-manage now..

Hopefully it only dynoed so low because of the clogged cat. Otherwise that is kinda dissappointing. In the dyno video they showed I think it was 275 at 7psi with just hi flow cat, or test pipe dont remember which, and Racing beat exhaust.

keep in mind as well, that the video we all saw at 12 psi was only an example of what kind of numbers we could get with just EMS, a few cheap (i use the term loosely) bolts ons, and a stock greddy turbo kit. if you look, those dyno pulls only went to ~8000rpm, as it's clear the turbo just cant push that much air at that pressure. the t618z is being over spun on this motor at 12psi, and continued use at those shaft RPM's would mean you'd be upgrading it very soon...whether you wanted to or not.
for whatever reason 8's put down widely varying numbers on the dyno in stock trim. these differences of 5-15whp are only amplified under boost. in my case, i believe i have one of the quirky cars that gets terrible MPG and can only pull a 14.4 (no dyno pulls for me yet, but i'd imagine ~180whp) no matter what i do behind the wheel. others like polak get better MPG and can scoot down the 1/4 in slightly less time (i think he ran a 14.1 with little track experience).
..lets just please not turn the 8 into a dyno queen. we paid $30k+ for top notch driveability, no sense in worrying about peak numbers.

I think what Greddyturbo1 was trying to communicate was why was the dyno pull 31hp off of what was said it should be at when adding the Interceptor.

Well, the 100 octane might have something to do with it. I'm willing to bet that every one of the interceptor results you've seen have been with 91-93. That said, there's no reason to think that you can't get better with the Interceptor than what you get with EManage. After all, the EMS doesn't produce power, per se. It only allows you to make the engine produce it. And I don't think that anyone will say the EManage provides you the same amount of control over your engine as the Interceptor will.

Scudrunner, I agree, And I will be right there with the interceptor-x in my car too, When I see that it will produce better results.. I have talked to scott many of times , about his unit and also about operating the auxilary ports with his kit. I'll bet he'll get there, but I haven't seen it yet...

I'm with Greddyturbo1 on this. I don't plan on turning up the boost from 7psi in the forseeable future. For those of you turning it up to double digit boost, you probably need the ability to retard timing for safety's sake. But I am not seeing the advantages for me right now. There still seems to be quite a bit of varition car-to-car, so, just like I suspected, tuning is still a requirement - "stand alone" or piggyback. Since I have consistent, tunable results with the emanage, I'm staying put.

my impression of the interceptor is great, this unit is easy to use(for me anyway), the tune scott put on the unit to get it going was a wonderful map to start with, after very few changes ive got it up to good numbers, still have a lil more to do but for now couldnt asked for a better mod. the graph i attached is peaking to 10psi and bleeding off to about 6 on top end. im running 94 pump gas. this graph shows it a lil leaner than i want, so i did add some more fuel to it. besides that big props to scott at mazsport, they put out a wonderful piece and have been very helpful.
