well if there were supposed to be shipped sept 1st. that was only like two weeks ago, hell i waited over three months to get my turbo kit. and as far as people losing their patience, what are they gonna do besides get mad, that wont change how fast they get it and cancelling the order isnt gonna do anything (cause there arent any other options as far as a ecu goes right now)

Adrian1 - I did buy a CZ unit and went through similar expectations when that was purchased, so it's almost like I am reliving it again through you guys even though I am not on the list...

I too am anxiously awaiting the results, or any results for that matter, from the N/A car. I'll be the first to purchase once those results are produced. From my perspective though, I just wish they would come on this forum more to answer questions, relay results and generally to just be part of the vendor forum that they signed up for. They probably posted more responses in the first week then they have in the past month. Thats what I dont like.

It's the same old stuff.. They are very friendly until they receive the orders. Really the only company that has maintained constant communication with their customers is PTP. Thats how it should be done in my mind... But thats just me.

Update!

We are finishing up the instruction booklet and are currently doing a short install DVD.

We are working long hours to get these units out A.S.A.P.
The first units to ship this week are:

RX-Steven
loube
Skudrunner
RXhusker
drifter_d
adrian-1
PURNRG
dgerald
Moostafa29
Rkostolni
Lschiavo
Acosta Motorsports

We are doing final assembly of units daily!

The guys that are not listed are awaiting N/A units or have other circumstances and have elected to wait and allow others an earlier spot for shipment.

Thanks again for your patience, the results are worth the wait. MazsportScott

Sweet.
Scott, are you still going to call for preshipment info just incase we've added anything else to our setup? FWIW, my setup is still the same as when I ordered.

Last time I talked to Scott my understanding was he is shipping all of the units out with the same map that will be slightly rich. It is then up to you to tune it to your particular car and setup.

1. "Add me to the list" means you're paying up front in full.
2. NA cars have a separate thread to discuss the interceptor, as mentioned previously.
3. I'm not sure why you had to quote Scott's entire message. Seems like a waste of space.
4. For that matter, I'm not sure why that post wasn't a PM instead.

Now we are almost ready..

OK, disregard my previous message about complaining for the delay. I just got off the phone with Scott and he told me the units were ready to go. He will try to ship some tomorrow, and the remaining on monday. My mood is changing now...

As of right now, I'm upset but not that bad. If it comes tomorrow, and they aren't shipped, I think I will be with the rest of you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they were shipped today, or tomorrow at the latest, but this moving deadline for the past two months has gotten old. I did ask for my turbo back, because I couldn't afford to wait any longer for that. Originally it was supposed to be one week, and several hundred dollars. And I was totally comfortable with that, but after two months of waiting, and the price just about doubling, it wasn't worth it to me anymore. I'd rather find another turbo altogether. If anyone hears anything, please post. Thanks.

I too think this is extremely unprofessional for four reasons.

1. Clearly Scott did not have all the bugs worked out, he must be having difficulties getting it to work or else it would not be 2 months late, he should not have sold a product that wasn't ready. He should have built a few then sold them once he had them working.

2. I am certain Scott is not being completely honest with us. Every time I talk to him he tells me they will be going out any day. I can understand estimates being off a week or two, but when I'm told it should go out any day, then a month later it still hasn't, something is going on. I very much doubt he really thought it would go out in a day or two, so why would he tell us that? I suspect he is having some kind of problem with the system and doesn't want to reveal what.

3. He has downgraded the product already from what was originally promised, then he promised more functionality but didn't produce any of that either. By this I mean originally Scott promised custom maps tailored to each car, but now my understanding is it will be just one map rich enough to be generic. The WB O2, and knock sensor were suppose to be added as a concession for the tardiness, but never were.

4. We have to constantly call him for updates, he should be on here posting updates.

Unless this product is sitting on my door step very soon, or really kicks ***, I mean he has gotten all kinds of extra functionality working, I would not buy from them again. Which really sucks, because I was really planning to buy a lot from them, it sounded like they were going to be making a lot of great enhancements for the Greddy turbo kit and the 8 in general.

I think if he had just stated on the original due date, that some problems arose and it would be another two months, people would be dissappointed, but far less annoyed then what has happened here.

I feel like a post *****. Anyway, I just got off the phone with Scott. He is making the final phone calls and verifying mods. Units are ready to go, being boxed as we speak. He will ship on Monday, USPS Priority, so no 1 week wait for UPS ground. Should be a 2-3 day turnaround, which means they should be at our door on Wednesday, ready to be installed. I don't know if you all watch the news, but yes a hurricane is headed his way. Not sure if it will hit him or not, but even if he does, he will be taking all the units to a save place in Georgia, and will finish boxing them from there. Ok, that is it for now. For what its worth, I am happy, and will begin my install this weekend.

i handled the group buy of over 45 canzoomer boxes last year, so this situation is very familiar to me (expect it took 6 months for the CZ's to show up). you guys obviously didn't understand the situation before shelling out the cash:

1. scott runs a business, and it's primary line of work is not manufacturing these units.

2. just like the canzoomer boxes, this is a totally new product. the only reason we are even able to purchase these before they're finished is because mazsport is a small business. greddy or HKS has much more capital laying around and can bite the r&d and materials cost and pay it off with cash from sales. not the best business process, but without an inital pre-order we may never see these units.

3. there is of course the option to sell your position to someone else..

4. many of you have cars that cannot run because you've either shipped off the turbo or cannot use you emanage for whatever reason. history has shown how pre-order situations like this work, and you've got only yourself to blame for putting yourself in a situation of not being able to drive your car.

and really, what can we do? we can call and bitch up a storm, but is that really going to make a difference?? everyone just needs to calm down and realize the situation

We all paid in full over $1700 over two months ago.

I'd like to clarify this statement. I mentioned Scott was working on three things (WB O2, knock sensor and data logging) during the initial delay caused by Australia shipping the wrong parts. In my phone conversation with him he hoped to have these implemented but was only sure about being able to do the data logging. That feature is in and he found the WB O2 reading wasn't possible without an auxillary box. You could say he was working on them as a concession for tardiness but I think it's more accurate to say he started working on them because he had some extra time.

Overall I find your attitude similar to mine--you think things could have been handled better but you're being civil about it rather than shouting obscenities. I agree that the overall schedule could have been managed better. (Example: Christy is picking up the instruction manual from the printers today. Assuming Scott has been totally honest about many delays being caused by his suppliers the instructions could have been done during one of those delays. Instead he has been very linear and waited for one step to compete before working on another.)

If you haven't received a call from Scott then you should expect to shortly. The instructional DVD may not be ready for inclusion in the box when they ship but I suggested to Scott that it's better to have the units in customer hands now and download the video later. He does plan to ship them out on Monday via USPS Priority Mail.

Priority mail is very pretty with its important-looking red/blue striping but in terms of delivery time it really isn't different from first class mail. Read the fine print: mail delivery is in an average 2-3 days. They get that average because most mail doesn't go coast to coast. Assuming they ship 10/24 then those of us in California can expect receipt somewhere between 10/28-10/31.

When you handled that group buy, did everyone mail payment to you first and then wait six months for delivery? I think that's (along with repeatedly missed delivery estimates) is the reason some people are upset.

The situation we understood was we would pay in full in advance and the units would ship in two weeks. R&D had already been done, the units were proven to plug/play and dyno tested. Scott's assurance that he didn't want to get into a canzoomer-type situation with product delays was a major selling point.

scott runs a business, and it's primary line of work is not manufacturing these units.
I'd say that once he started accepting people's money it became part of his line of work and he had more obligation to ship these units than he did accepting new work at his shop. (I also understand he's been working very long hours trying to meet both obligations; I simply dispute your claim about priority.)

there is of course the option to sell your position to someone else..
Tell that to Zoli007, who has reduced his asking price a couple hundred below Scott's retail and still hasn't gotten any takers. He's not the only one who's sold at a loss.

and really, what can we do? we can call and bitch up a storm, but is that really going to make a difference??
Nope, doing that wouldn't be productive at all. But I don't think that's what people here are doing. People like rkostolni are expressing their dissapointment and doubts in a calm and rational manner.

yes they did. the situation is exactly the same as this...constantly having to call for updates, numerous delays, suppliers taking trips, etc etc

caveat emptor man...i'm not trying to be rude about it, but you know that whatever needed to happen in those 2 weeks could easily take 2 months or longer. i've learned several times over that if it isn't in stock ready to go out that day, it wont go out when they say it will.

well he has our $1700, and he has people $30,000 cars as well...from a profitability standpoint, these aren't nearly as profitable as some of the work he does on cars in his shop. that's his main line of work, not electronics fabrication. he's also relying on alot of suppliers and parts that he normally doesn't deal with, and the longer the chain, the more delays you can run into.

no, i agree with that...it's a shitty situation if you have to sell. it was the same way with the canzoomers and as time progressed you saw them selling cheaper and cheaper. maybe i just know the canzoomer situation much better than anyone else and saw all these things coming. the only reason i bought a pre-order unit was because I knew I wouldn't be able to sit on $1700 of disposable income for too long. i wont have the turbo until january, and I really don't care about NA gains, so I got ready to wait before I even bought the box

i'm not telling anyone to shut up about their feelings over this situation. if anything, scott will see that he might be generating a negative image in his new RX-8 market and devote more resources to this...people in the CZ situation eventually resorted to scheduling an "annoyance call" to maurice every few days...and when he was on the phone, he wasn't working on our product.

im sure alot of you may feel taken by this, but just let it be a lesson learned the next time you want to be a super early adopter. worry not though, I have faith that we'll get our boxes in due time and we'll all be wafting in 300whp bliss

Just to update, my turbo was shipped on Wednesday, and arrived today. Coast to coast, from Florida, to Bay Area Ca, it took two days. So that should give everyone an idea of how long it will take from the Monday, final ship date.

How bad would that be if all the units are water logged and production has to start over.

Lets not even think about that. Scott said that if he had to, he was going to evacuate, go to Georgia, and mail them from there.
